Hello Dr Moore. My Teeth Are Ridiculously Sensitive. Which Dental Treatment Can Help Me Instead Of Just Using Toothpastes?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr. Moore. My teeth are ridiculously sensitive, I have tried lots of different toothpastes to try and reduce their sensitivity but nothing will offer me relief. It’s getting very frustrating as it’s everything that is slightly cold or hot causes me pain and toothache. I was basically wondering if there was any dental treatment that could help my teeth instead of just using toothpastes and such? Any advice you can offer would be very much appreciated. I look forward to reading your response, Thank you in advance.

Hi, I Suffer From Bulimia And I Would Like To Know If There Is Any Way To Protect My Teeth From Any Further Damage?

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014
Q.

Hi,
I have suffered from bulimia for around 4 years and I am currently being treated. My main concern though is my teeth. I’m incredibly worried about the effect bulimia has and will have on my teeth as I am nowhere near recovered yet. I was wondering what kind of thing I can do to protect my teeth as I already feel that they are increasingly sensitive? I realize that I may need to get some form of treatment in the future if I do not get my bulimia under control soon but I would like to minimize the damage done in the mean time.
Thank you.

My Teeth Are Black At The Back And I Haven’t Seen A Dentist For Nearly 20 Years. Is There Anything That Can Be Done To Get Them Back To White?

Monday, February 17th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I haven’t seen a dentist for nearly 20 years, my teeth are very discoloured and the bottom ones are black at the back. I’ve recently given up smoking but like a coffee and red wine. I don’t suffer from any toothache, although my teeth are very sensitive. Is there anything that can be done to get my teeth back to white or am I looking at having them removed and having dentures? I am 41 years old and this is really depressing me now, I would do whatever it takes to get a nice smile back and regain some confidence.

What Is The Best Toothpaste And Mouthwash To Use For Sensitive Teeth?

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I have 3 or 4 teeth on the bottom front that are not straight and two are being pushed out a little. I also have a little tartar build up on the back front teeth. Someone told me if I wore a retainer it would help straighten them out, is this true? What will the dentist do about my problem? What is the best toothpaste and mouthwash to use for sensitive teeth? It is crazy because in my family for some reason teeth are not very strong. I floss and brush and I seem to still have some problem here and there. Thank you for your time.

I Have Been Having Some Pain In My Temple And My Upper Left Jaw. Is This Caused By A Dental Problem?

Thursday, February 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have been having some pain in my temple, my upper left jaw, behind my ear and in addition I’ve been getting a burning sensation in my head. Additionally, when I put on my glasses I can feel a ‘tender’ spot over my ear. When I place a cold pack on the area it feels better but I can definitely feel the cold on the nerve which is highly annoying. My question is more about the burning pain in my head. Can that be generated from the nerve in my tooth? It would be great if you could help me clear this up. Thanks.

How Long Does It Take For The Pain To Subside After Dentures Are Fitted?

Thursday, January 9th, 2014
Q.

I already have full dentures and I would like to know if I should go to the dentist and get them gold plated? How much would it cost to plate all teeth in the denture on both top and bottom with gold?

Other than that cosmetic question I was wondering how long should I be in pain after my teeth have been removed and the dentures placed in my mouth? It has been 3 weeks and the holes where my teeth came out of are still bothering me. The pain I would say is mild but when I try to eat even ice cream I am using my tongue to eat it and when I press against my top denture it is still quite painful. They fit just fine and are staying on very well and I feel the pain where the tooth used to be so I am figuring it is not a fitting issue.

My Dentist Told Me That The Decay In My Tooth Will Not Be Removed Before Before An Onlay Is Fitted. Is This Correct?

Friday, December 13th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I hope you can help me. I have just been to the dentist and it turns out that I require an onlay. I used to have a crown over the tooth but this is no longer possible. My crown recently came out and contained some of my tooth. The tooth is still live. I have no constant pain although at times it is quite sensitive. I was told that the decay in the tooth will not be removed before the fitting. An impression has been taken. Is this correct? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

My New Braces Have Made My Teeth Very Sensitive, Should I Go To My Dentist?

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013
Q.

hello dr, to give you some context, i have had the 6 month smile braces fitted . I am now into my 7th week and i have really sensitive and shooting pains in one of my teeth especially at the lower side.when i drink hot or cold drinks it really sends a shooting pain which is pretty awful to be honest with you. It’s really sharp and disturbs me especially during social occasions like meals, drinks out with friends etc. I’d like to know is this just the teeth moving or is something hitting the nerve. It’s not sore all the time also when i touch the tooth it feels like its slack and has movement.

Should I Get My Eroded Teeth Crowned?

Friday, May 17th, 2013
Q.

i am 38 years old. i have overbite problem, what is worse is that now my lower teeth have started eroding due to the problem. There is also acute sensitivity to temperature fluctuations which is very uncomfortable. Another major issue is that often when i am chewing my food there is quite severe pain which again is horrible. Doctors have advised me to go for crowning. Please tell me whether you think that this is the correct course of action. Presenlty i am in kashmir. Where I can go for it safely in kashmi? How much will it cost to crown with good material in kashmir? Does it require a specialist? Sorry for all the questions but I really need to get this sorted out. Thank you.

My Tooth Hurts When I Come In From The Cold, What Is The Problem?

Monday, April 8th, 2013
Q.

When out in cold air I feel no pain but a few minutes after coming into the warm I get a pain in upper tooth which lasts for some time (depends how cold it is outside and how long I’ve been out. My dentist says he can see nothing wrong and has x rayed. I do use special toothpaste for sensitive teeth but it doesn’t help.
If I get a cold (which I haven’t this winter I do get pain in the teeth both sides but this pain is on the upper jaw between premolar and molar. Seems to be at a very specific spot between the teeth
What can be the cause and what can I do as I am getting reluctant to go out in the cold?
