What Treatment Can I Have as an Alternative to Braces?

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015
Q.

Dear Dr Moore,

My upper front teeth are sticking out and they make me look horrible when I laugh. At a younger age I was meant to get braces placed but it didn’t work out. I’m now 21 and I don’t want to wear braces at this point, although I wouldn’t mind getting another treatment done (if any are possible). Can you please enlighten me on what other treatment is available to stop my teeth from sticking out? Thank you.

Can My Protruding Teeth be Treated Without Braces?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I am a 20 year old girl. My front top four teeth face outward and slanted. They are bigger than usual teeth and also have no gap between them. I cannot close my mouth completely when I smile. My pictures do not look good because of this. Is there any dental procedure to make them right so that my front teeth can face inward and I can smile properly? It should be without the involvement of braces and less expensive. If so then please answer my question. Thank you.

How Can I Correct a Rotated Incisor?

Friday, February 13th, 2015
Q.

Hi. All my teeth are perfect except my left lateral incisor, which is slightly rotated. It very much bugs me. What can I do about this? My dentist said they wont give me any braces as it’s ‘minor’, but I really want something to help my tooth go back to its normal state of place. Thanks for any help, I would really appreciate it. If it helps, I’m nearly 15 and my teeth are all healthy. Could I get a retainer or something? Or what can I say to my dentist about this? Many thanks.

What is the Quickest and Most Affordable Way to Straighten Teeth?

Monday, January 12th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. My smile makes me look goofy. My two front teeth are big compared to the rest and it makes me feel horrible. I wouldn’t be able to pay for everything all at once, and would need some help with finance to pay out of my wages each month. I want my teeth at the top to be put back and in line with my bottom teeth, and for my teeth to be straightened out in the quickest and most affordable way. I am only 21. What would be my best option? Thank you for your help.

Will Invisible Braces be Suitable for my Overlapping Teeth?

Thursday, January 8th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I’m 56 years old and have just over the last few years noticed that my teeth are starting to overlap. I think it is my incisors on both sides, although one side is worse than the other. I really need some advice please. I am wanting to know if you think having cosmetic surgery will be a better solution for me due to my age, or will the invisible braces be more suitable for me? Please get back to me soon, thanks for your help.

Can a Healthy Tooth be Pulled and Replaced with an Artificial One?

Friday, September 5th, 2014
Q.

Hi,
I have completely straight teeth, except for one canine tooth that took too long to come back in after my baby teeth fell out and didn’t have enough room to come down – it is raised and protruding. I can’t afford braces and am getting married next summer. I refuse to show my teeth when I smile, especially for pictures, because of it. I asked the dentist/orthodontist about extraction but they acted like it wasn’t an option because of that being an important tooth. Can’t the tooth be pulled and a false tooth be somehow permanently placed in the space where this tooth should’ve been? It doesn’t seem right that braces could be the only option for one tooth.

My Daughter Is Four And Two Of Her Teeth Have Grown Slanted. What Could The Reason For This Be. Is This Anything To Worry About?

Friday, August 29th, 2014
Q.

My daughter who is 4 years old now has two 2 lower inward slanting teeth. All her other teeth are normal. What could be the reason for this? Is this something to worry about?
She got her first teeth exactly when she turned 1 year old. Two lower teeth are slanting inwards face-to-face. When we consulted with a paediatrician, they told us that there was nothing to worry about. I haven’t consulted a dentist yet. I look forward to hearing your reply.

I Have Had Braces In The Past And My Bottom Jaw Has Come Forward. Will This Continue To Grow Out?

Wednesday, August 27th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I have a problem that I hope you can help me with. I have a reverse overjet of just over 2mm and I am 20 years of age. I want to solve this but I don’t want to get braces again. What do I do? I had braces before and 2 teeth were removed from my upper row and afterwards my teeth were left straight on top rather than in front so over time my bottom jaw has grown and come over. Will this continue to grow too? Are there any other solutions to this problem? Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you.

I Have A Missing Canine Tooth. Would A Six Month Smile Solution Be Applicable To My Dental Condition?

Monday, August 18th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, I would like a smile makeover as I don’t like my front teeth. They stick out and I have a missing lower canine and incisor tooth. I am always self conscious about them and embarrassed. I tend to cover my mouth when I speak. I would like to get braces and wanted information on the type of braces available to me as an adult especially the six month smiles? I would like to know if it is possible to get this treatment with missing teeth.
Thank you.

I Am A Teacher And I Lack Confidence As My Teeth Have Gaps Between Them? Which Treatment Should I Be Looking Into?

Friday, August 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I am 23 years old and the problem is my front teeth. They are coming out a little front and there are gaps between the teeth. Every day they seem to be coming out even further. I am in the profession of teaching which isn’t good because I lack confidence in my teeth. I have consulted my family doctor and he suggested for me to consider clip treatment which takes nearly 2 years, but at this age I am not interested in that treatment. Could you please suggest to me any other form of treatment for this problem other than clip treatment. Waiting for your answer, thank you.
