I Have A Central Incisor Which Sits Behind The Rest Of My Smile. What Can Be Done To Fix This?

Friday, September 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have this upper left central incisor situated around 0.7 cm behind the rest of the teeth. It gives the impression as if that tooth is missing when I talk. It affects my social life a lot.
This problem has persisted since my childhood. The misplaced tooth was on the process of eruption while the milk tooth at that place was not falling off. So by the time the milk tooth fell off, the permanent tooth had already developed into the present place. I am now 23 years old.
Please tell me about my available options for the treatment of my condition.
Thank you.

How expensive would enamel crowns be for my five year old?

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013
Q.

My daughter, 5, has several silver crowns on her bottom molars. Is it costly to have them replaced with enamel crowns, or is there dental paint for them? She has two on each side and I don’t like the way they look. I know they are just baby teeth, but I do not want her to grow up with all this dental work in her mouth. Her dentist says that the enamel did not form properly around her teeth and that her whole mouth may need to be capped.

Q.

Hi there, I wondered if you could help me? My 5 year old grand daughter has very rotten teeth which have reached gum level they are now rotting in the gum and she is in pain this in turn is causing her to have ear ache. what is the remedy for this? They are still her milk teeth. BUT…Will the adult teeth grow and push these out since they have receded into the gum or will she need an operation to remove them? She has had this problem for the past few days and have been treating her with ponstan for the pain and some olive oil in the ear for the pain there. Thank you in advance for the advice.

My 23 month old daughter has chipped her front tooth, what should I do?

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012
Q.

My 23 month old daughter chipped her front tooth this week, while playing at the park. I took her straight to the dentist but they just said its fine it doesnt need filing down. Its very unsightly and is causing her speach to be different to usual. Is there anything that can be done to make it look somewhat like it used to so that it looks better and improves her speach to what it was? She is also finding it herd to close her mouth without chewing on the inside of her bottom lip with the chipped tooth.

My one year old fell and chipped his tooth, what should I do?

Friday, June 17th, 2011
Q.

Hi! My son is 20 months old. He fell and chipped his 2 front teeth on Friday night. I consulted a pediatric dentist the next day. He didn’t file it as he thought it may traumatize my kid & recommended to return on Monday for the filing. He also prescribed an anti-biotic so that the teeth does not discolor, for which he says he’d have to do a root canal(!). I was wondering if the anti-biotic is actually necessary and whether my son would really need a root canal if the teeth discolors after some time.

Would appreciate a quick response.

Antibiotics have stained my 2 year old’s teeth, is there anything I can do?

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011
Q.

I just noticed that my two year old daughter’s once beautifully white teeth are developing yellowish, mottled ‘stains’ on them. She was recently treated with antibiotics to treat a bacterial lung infection. Could the anibiotocs have caused this, or could something else be going on? Is there anything I can to to correct this or prevent it worsening?
My son also experienced this when he was about the same age and now, at the age of 5, he is quite self-consious of it. Fortunately, his baby teeth are starting to fall out now, but I want to ensure that my children’s permanent teeth are not afflicted with the same condition.

Thanks in advance for your help.
