hi doctor,i have been asking several people and still haven’t got any clear answers.i am hoping you can help.my two front teeth are slightly loose and when i went to see my dentists she said i had a tiny pocket but didn’t do anything else.i have to wear a mouth guard at night as i grind my teeth but was wondering what,if anything,i can do to prevent them from loosening anymore and falling out.i really don’t want to lose them.i have read up in case i do lose them about having a bridge,but i was wondering if i could have it as the two teeth next to the front ones are healthy but one of my fangs(as i call them)on my right side is slightly clicking.any advise would help,i thought i might add that i have started using corsodyl toothpaste and mouthwash as my dentist did tell me to use them,but im not sure what they would do to help.could you explain what they do if anything aswell.many thanks

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010hi , i am 43 and have quite advanced periodontal disease , also an overbite on my top teeth and tmj disorder . i have already had 5 teeth removed , and today i saw a periodontist and he said i need another 3 out but not replace them .. this periodontal disease started about 5 years ago . i do smoke , which i know is a huge factor in the disease .. what i want to know is if i had all my teeth removed , would that end the disease ? and could i then have implants to replace all my teeth ? or is it not possible because of gum and bone reduction ? my dentist is always saying they are trying to save my teeth , but whats the point if they are destroying whats underneath ??? Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated as at present I am finding this deeply depressing at the moment in time

Saturday, December 4th, 2010im 47 never smoked my mother and grandmother lost all their teeth due to loosing bone in their gums,4years ago i noticed small gap and front tooth loose,dentist refered me to birmingham but said there would be a 2 year wait,i have been attending birmingham 2 years and was told it should have been 6 weeks wait.not only have i lost bone and have a gap my front tooth is now jutting out and affects my speech,i just want the front teeth rectified im devasted and avoid going out, i have heard of bone graft what are my options i cannot go another year visiting birmingham my life is on hold.thank you
What can I do about bonding that has become discoloured?
Friday, December 3rd, 2010I am a 47 year old female. I had peridontal surgery 22 years ago and am fortunate to still have my teeth, however I am not happy with the looks of them. Some years back my dentist bonded them to make the more stable. The bonding has discolored from the color of my teeth and no longer looks very good. I have had it redone a couple times but he says it doesn’t adhere well after the first time because of not having the porous tooth surface to adhere too. I do have a lot of bone loss, but it has held its own for all these years and when I smile you really can’t see that. Guess the discoloration is my main concern. He talked about a partial but I’m not ready to give up my teeth yet. Thanks
What should I do if I have black broken teeth to gum level and suffer from diabetes?
Thursday, November 25th, 2010Hi. I have front teeth with two front ones broken at gum level. I have no side teeth apart from two or three that are at gum level, black and broken. I had a dental bridge on one of the sides but it fell off a year ago and the teeth under that are now black and at gum level. I have diabetes and am horrified of the procedure necessary to fix my problem. Kindly let me know what could be the procedure to all.

I just had a lot of work done to my teeth about 2 and a half weeks ago, including 9 crowns in the front on the top. I went out of the country for all of my work and crammed the whole process into a 12 day span. The temps made my gums very irritated and inflamed, so irritated in fact that they had to re-do 2 of my crowns because my gums receded so bad. So now that I have my crowns in, I’m having problems with my gums, and worried they will recede again. Maybe I’m just paranoid… I’ve been taking extra care with brushing and even massaging them. How long will it take for my gums to come down over the crowns and what can I do to help the process? I think I just need some reassurance.

Can my gums grow back after they have decayed?
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010Hi i have been to see my dentist where i had 2 fillings and he cleaned alot of tar from my teeth. This was due to having a fixed brace in and it was difficult to keep teeth clean. Now i can holes at the top of my teeth where the gum should be. They look like decay but it just looks like gum missing. Can my gums grow back at all what can i do ive been told to keep them clean can i do anything for my gum to come back 🙁
My tooth is moving but appears healthy, why is this?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010hi there.my two front teeth are only ever so slightly loose.i am grinding my teeth in my sleep for many years now and have just got a night guard from my dentist.they said i have a tiny pocket between my teeth and gums.i was wondering if using my night guard would help strenghen my teeth.or if not,what other things could be done?i dont want to lose my teeth and my dentist says i dont have gum decease.please help.thanks
