Hello Dr Marcus, I’d Like A Durable Way Of Mending My Chipped Tooth.

Tuesday, November 5th, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor Marcus,
I have a front tooth (second left) which is chipped (approx 30% of tooth), I have had a composite filling done in the past but it keeps falling out. I would prefer a more reliable and durable fix, but I do not want to have a crown just yet. Is a porcelain filling a possible option. I’d also like to know the cost as well please? Also I’m thinking about teeth whitening. Thank you, really look forward to hearing your advice.

I Had An Infected Tooth After A Filling Came Loose And Now It’s Black. What Are My Long Term Options?

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi, a year ago I had root canal surgery performed on my front tooth. I have had ongoing problems with this tooth since I chipped it when I was 12 years of age. I have had it re-filled 3 times. Before I had the root canal, I was told I had an infection as the filling came lose. It is now black. I’m a 20 year old girl and this is really affecting my confidence. Preferably I wouldn’t like to get a crown but I am looking for a long term solution. What are my options in fixing this tooth?
Thanks, please help.

I Discovered A Black Spot On My Front Tooth. Will Fluoride Treatment Reverse The Decay?

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, my problem is that I have recently discovered a black spot on my front tooth (top 1) that’s annoying me. My dentist recommended to just leave it and wait, but now I’m starting to think that it now looks bigger. I have heard of a fluoride treatment, and I wondered whether this could this help to reverse the decay? What would be the best treatment for my front tooth if I had to use a filling? Is a filling the only option? Many thanks for your advice.

Kind regards.

I Think I May Need Composite Bonding As I Grind My Teeth At Night. Is It The Right Option?

Thursday, October 17th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie, I am 17 years of age. I am interested in White fillings with composite bonding. If I decide on having this done to my teeth how long does it last, does it wear off in time? Also does it blend in with the colour of your teeth? A few of my teeth have worn down due to grinding my teeth at night and want to know if this method is suitable for my teeth. Also, I want to know how much will it cost because I am hoping to do it to all of my teeth as I am very insure about them whenever I smile. Does this method still work if you have gaps in your teeth and does it cover these gaps? Thank you.

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I had braces and took them off myself and on my front tooth some of the glue did not come off so it scraped it off and it has took a small part out in the middle of my tooth. The small dip after every meal or drink goes yellow, so how can I get around this problem? (I brush twice daily, once in the morning and once at night before bed) any help would be fantastic I’ve started brushing even more recently to try get rid of the problem but nothing seems to work and obviously is knocking on my confidence a bit. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Is It Difficult For Dentists To Extract Teeth Barely Over The Gum Line?

Thursday, October 10th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie. I believe I may require treatment fairly soon, at the moment I have two back molars on opposite sides that need extracting and an upper tooth where a crown has come out. In regard to the back molars, one broke in half and the other one is barely above gum level and is almost entirely made up of filling. Will the extraction for the tooth barely over gum level be difficult to perform for some dentists?
I have not seen a dentist for two years, as my previous one retired. I will probably need some other work, can you offer me any advice in regards to this? Thank you and kind regards.

I Need A Lot Of Treatment, What Options Or Advice Can You Provide Me With?

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013
Q.

My teeth are all brown and not in a good shape, the lower ones are crooked as well, they are very short, guess my biting isn’t very good or maybe I have a grinding problem, I am 46 years old and very desperate, could you please give me some advice and give me a rough figure of the cost? I have a very badly filled tooth and I can’t use my right side any more, on my left at the back, I have gaps and eating is becoming a nightmare. The front ones are chipping and biting is becoming a challenge, I can’t even bite into an apple, please give me all the options cause with my teeth to all get done it looks like it will be very expensive.

How Much Is It To Get Two Implants As I Have A Drifting Issue?

Friday, September 27th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. My problem is that I am in need of a molar implant as after having it taken out when I was sixteen, it has now caused a drifting issue but also I need my second molar on the left taken out due to a bad filling and I am really paranoid about the gap from the previous extraction, so much so that I fear that if I have this other one taken out I won’t be able to smile again.

How much will it cost to have two implants? I don’t really want bridges as they would have to file the teeth down and they look really noticeable and that’s something that I don’t want. Thank you in advance for any advice, I hope you can help.

I Had A Calcium Deficiency During My Pregnancy. Can Anything Be Done To Rectify My My Smile?

Thursday, September 26th, 2013
Q.

During pregnancy I had horrible case of calcium deficiency, my teeth shifted and I suffered significant bone loss. I would like to know if your six week smile program would be ideal for me since it is a lot gentler in regards to the movement of teeth below the gum line.
My lower central incisors are slightly twisted, the lateral incisors have moved slightly behind the central incisors which have resulted in lower crowding.
My upper central incisors have moved forward and my gum line has elevated a bit, also I have developed a space between them. My right lateral incisor and canine have shifted slighted behind each other. My upper right first and second pre-molars were extracted. Also I have filings in both my upper first molars.

Please advise if anything can be done to rectify my smile. Regards.

I’ve Been Told My Teeth Can’t Support Braces, So What Are My Other Options?

Friday, September 6th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I have already undergone the treatment for braces some four years back, but from the time the treatment was over, I noticed my teeth were starting to get protruded and thereby opening gaps. Now it seems to look how it appeared to look prior to the treatment. Yet my teeth have developed lots more cavities and do not have a lot of strength to bite anything very hard. Enough fillings have been put in from my childhood and some even more recently. I am 25 now. When I have approached several dentists they advise me not to go for braces again as my teeth are not in a condition. Could you kindly suggest what other options may be available? I hope to hear from you in the near future.
