I Have a Broken Tooth, But It Isn’t Causing Pain. Should I Be Worried?

Hello Dr Gambroudes. A while ago one of my fillings came loose and fell out. The tooth then cracked,  then the tooth fell out. However, there is still the root and a tiny but of tooth still present. I had an abscess, but I couldn’t get an appointment at the dentist’s until days after I got it and it eventually went away, so I never bothered going to the dentist after all. The area around the broken tooth is very red and a bit lumpy. I do not get any pain from this tooth, but should I be worried? Do you think I should go to the dentist anyway to make sure everything is okay? Thank you for your time.

How Much Should a CEREC Cad/Cam Inlay Cost?

Dear Dr Hughes, I have just had an estimate for £899.00 to have the old filling removed from a molar and a CEREC CAD/CAM inlay / overlay procedure carried out to the same molar. Does this sound to you to be a fair estimate for this treatment? I have not decided yet whether to go ahead with this procedure. I would very much like to have the procedure done, but it seems quite expensive to me. The filling that is in place, but loose at the moment, is the older mercury amalgam type. Does this make any difference to the cost of this procedure? Many thanks, I hope you can help me come to a decision.

Are There Any Financial Plans Available To Help With The Costs Of Dental Treatment? I Need Braces.

Hi Mark,

I’m 20 years old and have an open bite as well as two milk lateral incisors. No dentist has mentioned my milk teeth to me, but I was referred to an orthodontist for braces when I was 18. However, due to my age I would have had to pay out £5k so I decided to leave it.

These days, my teeth don’t bother me that much but I would like to correct my open bite at the least due to feeling paranoid when people notice it.

My question to you would be whether there are any insurance plans that may help cover the costs of braces? Or perhaps you have some additional advice for me? My dental hygiene is near perfect, and I only have two fillings.

Hi Andrew. I’ve not been to the dentist for about 2 years I’ve got dental phobia and the whole experience just scares me. I’ve got very weak teeth and 2 of my bottom back teeth have broken I also have a lot of fillings. I really want them sorting out as I realise how important my teeth are. What sort of piece would I be looking at to have my fillings replaced probably about 6 of them and also the bottom 2 teeth that have broken? I’m with an NHS dentist at the moment? Thanks.

Hello Dr Hughes. I had steroids as a child and as a result my teeth more or less all contain fillings. Money is tight for me, but I have a very painful jaw which my dentist tends to ignore. I have two teeth missing and others need pulling out. I am only 36 and find it hard to smile because I have lost all confidence as my teeth are such a mess not to mention how painful eating and drinking is. What should I do? Any help or advice on this will really be helping me. Thank you in advance.

I Am Worried About The Effects Of Amalgam Fillings. Please Guide Me On Whether I Should Go For Amalgam Fillings Or Cerec?

Hello Dr. Mark,
I have 6 cavities and I am getting them filled soon. My dentist is suggesting Amalgam fillings. I have done so much research on effect of Amalgam on health and teeth. Even composite fillings are not durable. I have come across Cerec cad cam fillings, but not sure of its durability and effects on health.
I am looking for long durable, natural looking fillings.
Please guide me on whether I should go for Amalgam fillings or Cerec? Or any other suggestions?

Hello Dr Moore. I have a question I hope you can help me with. What material is used to fill the area that is extracted in an apicoectomy? This is after I’ve had two operations to remove cysts and I also have an amalgam packing from 1977 and 1985 in the same area. This amalgam is now fragmenting and needs to be removed. What is involved in doing this and how successful will the operation be? What is the cost of this and can it be done at a dentist surgery or hospital? I need help understand the procedure. How Long Will This Tingling Pain Last After My Gingivectomy?

Hello Dr Moore. I recently had a gingivectomy on my upper left side of mouth for the very last tooth. I had a cracked tooth and my gum had gone sunk into the cavity of tooth. I believe it was from an old filling. How long does the tingling pain last after that? It was last week. Will I go back to get any real feeling in the next 3 weeks? It’s like a very annoying pain but not tearful pain. I have a high pain tolerance. My dentist told me there would be a pain like this, as if I had a paper cut on your finger but they didn’t say how long that would last. Thanks.

Hi Dr Moore. I’m 19 and I really want perfect teeth but I have had problems in the past where my teeth have gone bad and I had to have fillings and now I’m paranoid about the way they look and it really upsets me. I would like to know the cost for permanent dentures all around my whole mouth and I don’t want to be able to move them I just really want a perfect set off teeth. Does the NHS pay for this or help towards payment? Thank you. I’d really like some advice.

Hi Dr Moore. I hope you can help me. I have previously had a filling to my right upper second molar some years ago. It now seems that there is a small crack on the medial aspect of that filled tooth adjacent to the filling. At the moment it doesn’t cause me any problems, pain or sensitivity, etc and has been like that for a number of months.
