What is the best option for my husband’s weak teeth?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.

My fiance has very weak teeth. He is only 32 and now has to have a plate for one of his front teeth that had been capped but the tooth continued to rot underneath. He has good oral hygiene and does not want to end up with false teeth. Is there anything that you can recommend? We have considered veneers but I am concerned the tooth will continue to decay underneath which will ultimately require extraction anyway. Is there perhaps an alternative? We are getting married in December and would love to have this resolved.

Kind regards

What options do I have for replacing my rotten teeth?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011
Q.

Hello Doctor, I hope you can help.

I have missing teeth and all remaining are rotten. I am desperate to be able to speak without feeling self conscious. I have a limited budget. I need to know how much treatment will cost and what treatments are available to me. I have never had nice teeth and am unable to smile and live my life. I have felt suicidal at times as rhis has been a problem for many years. I dont know what the cost will be but can you let me know if any treatments are available and what they would involve.

Thank you for your time and advice

Will I have temporary teeth after my dental implant treatment?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011
Q.

I am considering implants – I have been advised that one cannot always have temporary dentures whilst awaiting the fixed permanent teeth. As the implants (5) are for replacement of front teeth in the upper jaw this is obviously not something that I could consider.

Is this the case as to go without any front teeth for 6 weeks is not an option! I am hoping that this is just the implantologist being particulary cautionary. He has indicated that they will do their very best but is unable to guarantee until after the surgery. I have accepted 10 days without teeth to allow for healing to be maximised but 45 days is definitely out of the question.

A tooth on my bridge is turning grey, what is wrong?

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011
Q.

I had two lava bridges placed on my front teeth earlier this year because I was missing a tooth on either side (they never grew in). The bridge on the left side looks perfect but the one on the right has started to look slightly grey. I am very careful about taking care of my teeth everyday. What would cause this and can it be corrected? The other thing I have noticed since the bridge on the right was placed is that it doesn’t feel like it is on the tooth right. I can feel a small part of my tooth between the bridge and my gum line. Could this be the cause?

What can I do about my horrible teeth?

Friday, June 17th, 2011
Q.

Just a message as I am stuck with what to do and where to turn ..
I am 22 years old, and I can safely say that I highly doubt you’ve seen teeth as bad as mine, 97 year old’s probably have better teeth. As a result I have no confidence and avoid talking to people, I rarely smile and it gets me down on a daily basis.

Due to a sever phobia of dentists, I haven’t been to one since I was a young child, as a direct result my teeth have suffered. To add to this, through most of high school I suffered with bulimia. I have lost the majority of my back teeth, and have two very broken molars. I also have a gap between my two front teeth. I’ve never really looked into getting them fixed due to the high costs. I’m not sure where to go or what to do, but I do realise as I am only 22 that my mouth can only get worse, therefore I need to act. I’m just not sure how I’m going to cover the costs, some advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Are there any options to replace a Maryland Bridge without metal wings?

Friday, April 15th, 2011
Q.

My daughter is 17 and has a Maryland bridge on her front tooth. Its not the one with the metal wings and its keeps comming off every other week. The oral surgeon said that he wouldnt do an implant because of the nerve that is in the way. The dentist said she needed to try a maryland bridge with the metal wings. He didn’t want to put a fixed bridge in right now. Is it any other options out there?
