Tuesday, July 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi, How is it possible to find a local dentist with the knowledge and expertise for cosmetic dentistry. There are quite a few listed in the local area to me, but non with before and after web site pictures, but all say that have done “this sort of work before” Its a real concern as I dont want to just take pot luck.

My son had missing front teeth can he have dental implants on NHS

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008
Q.
My 16 year old son has his front two teeth but the teeth either side of these are missing (they have never come through). As well as this all his teeth are quite small, so I am worried that bridges would not be suitable. He has a brace at the moment to keep his teeth in place. Is there anywhere that he could have Implants on the NHS?

Mother has discoloured long front teeth with a gap can this be fixed

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
My mother in law has two very prominent top front teeth. They are very long and discolored and there is a substantial gap in between them. She would like this to be fixed, as it prohibits her from smiling in photos and it does nothing for her confidence. She has been to her own dentist, who said he could either remove the teeth and give her a plate, or lower the gum. She would like to know if there are more cosmetic options, rather than resorting to drastic measures. Can you advise her?

I knocked my tooth out and had a bridge I don’t have enough bone density could I have dental implants

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
I knocked my two front teeth out when I was 8yrs old, they were put back in and capped but didn’t take and at 15yrs old they were removed and replaced with a denture and then a porcelain bridge. I am now 26yrs old, getting married in 6mths time and have broken my bridge and caused damage to the adjoining tooth following a fall on Friday when I blacked out. I have seen an NHS dentist this morning who took X-rays and wants to review my own tooth next week. I am considering implants, because this is the 3rd bridge I’ve had since I was 17yrs old. At that time I was told I didn’t have enough bone density, but could that change over time or just get worse?

I’m obviously very conscious about the cost as we are paying for a wedding and equally I am conscious of time because I need to be able to smile at my wedding on 1st November 2008. I can feel my confidence decreasing already, and I work in sales so I have to come across confident and talk to people all day. I really don’t know what would be best, another bridge would be quicker and cheaper but how long would it last, and implants or mini implants could last a lifetime rather than 5-10yrs.

If my root canal doest work will I loose the bridge that is fitted to it

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
I have recently had root canal work on one tooth and the tooth next to this had been removed due to previous failed root canal work. So far the recent root canal work seems to have worked although I do feel some discomfort from time to time, I am about to have bridgework to rectify the missing tooth. My concerns are what if the root canal work hasn’t worked sufficiently what options am I left with once the bridge is fitted and I’ve paid all this money for a bridge to be fitted over a troublesome tooth would I have to get the bridge and tooth removed. At the moment the gum around the tooth just seems permanently swollen is that normal?? root canal procedure was done twice and almost a month ago now, I suffer from TMJ could this be slowing down the healing process as I’ve notice the temporary crowns I have over my teeth have been ground down?

I had an accident and knocked my two front teeth out I have a Maryland bridge

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
I had an accident in December fractured my skull and knocked out my two front teeth, I currently have a maryland bridge fitted for tempory measure and don’t know what to do now I am seeing my surgeon in May, my dentist wants my roots removed to fit another bridge but I would like to know about implants, the problem is my teeth were not straight so the gap where my teeth were knocked out is not big enough to fit four teeth in and if I just had two teeth there they would be very big so I don’t if to get the front six teeth as implants as my dentist is going to shave them down to fit the bridge so i would loose them anyway, the surgeons left the roots in for me to have posts fitted and then a tooth but I can’t find any information about it anywhere, also my surgeon does not seem to keen on removing the roots. What would be the best cause of action to gain the best results please help!
