Hi Dr Patel. My question is: how much do lingual braces cost? Does NHS provide it? I’m 15 years old. I have 2 of my front teeth are overlapping like they should be in the front but they are on the back and that is the only problem that I have. How long should I wear the normal braces or the lingual dental braces? I think that lingual braces are the only braces that can help me. I don’t really want the normal braces and I was wondering if there was any discount because of my age? Thank you.

I’m 15 And I Was Wondering If The NHS Would Provide Me With Lingual Braces Or Not?
Wednesday, March 26th, 2014My Gums Constantly Ache. Shall I Give Up And Go For Full Dentures And Have All My Teeth Removed?
Wednesday, March 26th, 2014Hi, I need some advice please. I’m 45 and I have struggled with my teeth from being a little girl. My front teeth were knocked out due to an accident when I was 8. I have been told ever since I was a little girl that I have poor teeth and gums. I don’t smoke. I drink occasionally. I feel all my life I have had treatment on my teeth or gums. I’ve just paid out again over £1500 to have deep cleaning on my gums (which as you will be aware is not a nice experience) my front teeth have formed a gap. I’m thinking of the 6 month smile, which again will cost a lot of money. Then my front 4 teeth which are caps, replaced with new ones. Not sure of cost of that yet. I know some of my teeth are going to have to be removed as they are very painful. My gums constantly ache. Shall I give up and go for full dentures and have all my teeth removed? The thought of no more pain is very appealing. Help!
I Was Wondering If Payment Plans Require Taking Out Credit Or Whether You Can Just Pay A Certain Amount Each Month?
Tuesday, March 25th, 2014Hello Dr Patel. I had a root canal done a couple of years ago that failed and the tooth came away (molar), a pre-molar in front of it also had to be removed after my first pregnancy. I have seen someone who advised me that I could have a dental implant and the cost of this however they didn’t offer a payment plan. I was just wondering whether your payment plans require taking out credit or whether you can just pay a certain amount each month? I live in the North West area and I am really looking to get this done as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
How Long Does Veneer Treatment Last And Is It Painful In Any Way?
Monday, March 24th, 2014Hello Dr Patel, I have a question for you. How long do dental veneers last? And do you think it is worth having them? My teeth are quite discoloured and not very straight. Would this be a good method compared to let’s say braces. I was considering getting braces but then I was told about this option. Are the veneers permanent, or do they not last very long? How long will the procedure normally take and is it painful in any way? If you could give me a quote that would be great.
Thank you.
For Fashion, I’ve Always Wanted A Gold Front Tooth. Is This Something Cosmetic Dentists Specialise In?
Friday, March 21st, 2014 Hi there Dr Patel. I hope you can help me. I have always wanted, for reasons relating to fashion, a gold front tooth in the form of a crown either on the whole tooth or a rim surrounding the tooth.
Is this something you offer, or can you give me advice as to which cosmetic dentists specialise in this? Perhaps you yourself could offer this treatment? I live in North London but travel is of course not really an issue!
Can you perhaps email me some pictures, fact-sheets, prices etc, as a guide.
I would be most grateful if you could help me with this as it’s a unique question.
With kind regards.
I’m Currently Having Braces But I Fear My Gaps Won’t Be Closed In Time For My Wedding. Could Cosmetic Bonding Work For Me?
Thursday, March 20th, 2014Dear Dr Patel,
I have had gaps in between my teeth since childhood but I noticed they have been widening. I am on an internship in Tunisia where I started my braces treatment, it’s been 10 months and I am due to leave in 6 weeks. So far, the 3 mm gap in between my front teeth has closed and so have the little ones on the bottom. However, I now have ‘2 mm’ gaps on each side of my 4 upper and bottom teeth (4 gaps in total). Whilst I would like to be patient with the treatment, in addition to relocating, I will be getting married in February 2014 and would really like to have the gaps closed before then. Would you recommend cosmetic bonding?
My other fear is that I have a long tongue which have been pushing the teeth out; I had a tongue thrust apparatus on for 3 months which has assisted in training the tongue to rest up in my mouth, however I am aware that if we push the teeth too far in, the tongue will still push them back out later on.
Your advice is much appreciated.
My Gums Are Receding From Over-brushing. I Now Have A Good Oral Health Regime. Is There Any Treatment That Can Help Me?
Tuesday, March 18th, 2014Hello Dr Patel, I’m hoping for some advice. I have very thin gums at the bottom front of my mouth and receding on one tooth. This is due to overbrushing. I now follow a strict oral regime including brushing in small circular motions using a soft bristled toothbrush, flossing and using interdental brushes, at night time and taking vitamin supplements. The thinning and receding is causing me much distress and anxiety. What are my treatment options? Can anything be done about this or should I just continue my regime. Thanks, I hope you can help me with this problem.
Am I Too Old For Implants?
Monday, March 17th, 2014Hello there, I wondered if you could help me with my problem. I am a sixty-one year old woman, and have had two large gaps on either side of my lower jaw since I was a child. I have experimented with dentures in the past, but I found them to be an inconvenience to me. Would you say I was too old for dental implants, and are my gums too thin to have implants fitted? A big problem I have is that I find that I struggle when it comes to chewing food, and have always wanted to have my teeth sorted out professionally. I do not have many teeth, and I would really like to have a full set of working ones! Thank you.
What Alternatives Are There To A Bridge?
Monday, March 17th, 2014Hi. When I was younger, it was discovered that I had no “adult teeth” growing under my bottom two centre milk teeth, so I had them removed. I had a brace fitted to close the gap and another brace on my top teeth to straighten and close gaps. Unfortunately, at the time, I didn’t regularly wear the retainer to keep them in place so now my teeth have come apart again. I had a bridge fitted to the gap at the bottom but the gums behind the supporting teeth seem to get swollen and sore regularly. What would you recommend as an alternative to the bridge, and more importantly the gaps and alignment at the top? I was thinking lingual braces at the top would be best for me but I have quite small teeth. Kind regards.
