Hi there. I have just been to my dentist and had one of my crowns re-fixed yet again, probably for the sixth time. I was told that the dentist that originally fixed the crown, didn’t check that the post was long enough and that’s why it falls out on occasions. Next to the crown is a bridge that is fixed to a now cracked tooth so it wobbles, the bridge has wobbled for about 10 years only coming out once. I asked the dentist this morning what it if comes out again, they said that they won’t cement it in again and I would have to have a denture, which fills me full of dread. I am a pensioner and don’t have a large income and wondered if there would be an alternative on the NHS, or how much would it cost to have implants for 3/4 teeth? My own teeth are shrinking so next to the crown it’s considerably smaller.

My Crown Keeps Falling Out And Would Need A Denture If It Falls Out Again. How Much Would It Cost To Have Implants For 3/4 Teeth?
Tuesday, August 12th, 2014I Have Been Considering Dental Implants But Find Them Costly? Could You Advise Me?
Monday, August 11th, 2014Hi Dr Patel, I am 54 years old and an ex-smoker. My teeth are mostly bridges, and my question is: Could I have these replaced for a whiter, brighter smile? I have being considering implants so as to have something more permanent, but found them to be very costly. I do understand you can pay monthly which I am considering at a lesser cost to replacing what I already have. Could you advise me? Or do I need to see dentist? Thank you for your time.
My Teeth Are Decaying And It Hurts To Speak. What Are My Options? Surely I Can Get Treatment Through The NHS?
Friday, August 8th, 2014Hi Andrew. I have 3 missing back teeth on my bottom jaw lower left 7 and 6 and lower right 6 with 7. It’s giving me agony as I speak. It has a big hole in it and I imagine it’s on its way, my lower left and right 5 also has decay. Eating is a nightmare as my bottom as I desperately need implants. I am only 30 years old and my teeth are ruined. Surely I can get treatment on the NHS or something? I really could not imagine spending another 30 years with no back teeth as its so horrible and uncomfortable it takes me ages to eat. What are my options for this and is there any way I can afford treatment? Thank you for your reply.
It’s Too Painful To Wear My Partial Denture. What Would It Cost To Have My Remaining Teeth Removed And Replaced With Dental Implants?
Thursday, August 7th, 2014Hi Dr. Moore. I have a big problem with my teeth, they hurt all the time. My dentist has X-rayed them and checked them and there is nothing wrong with them. He took the front top ones out and this relieved the pain for a while. I have a partial denture but I can’t wear it for longer than half an hour and I certainly can’t eat with it in. The few teeth I have left are now hurting again and I wondered what it would cost me to have them all removed and implants done, I am on disability benefits so I would need a payment plan, please can you help or advise me. Thank you.
I Struggle To Keep My Dentures In As I Have Emphysema And Cough A Lot. What Can I Do To Hold Them In Place?
Wednesday, August 6th, 2014Hi Dr Moore. I am female and aged 63. I have emphysema and I cough continuously, I have recently had my teeth out due to gum disease and have partial plate both top and bottom. I have tried to wear the dentures from May but I continually gag and end up being sick, I am lucky if I can keep them in for an hour. My dentist says he can not take any more from the top plate and if he did there would not be enough plate left to hold them in. If it’s not the gag reflex it’s the cough, please help. Thank you for your time.
I Have Been Told That I Should Now Have Dentures For My Upper Jaw. I Have A Hypersensitive Gag Reflex. Is There An Alternative?
Tuesday, August 5th, 2014Hi Andrew. I have been battling periodontal disease for twenty five years and I have been told by my dentist that I should now have dentures for my upper jaw. I don’t think having five children has helped me. I am terrified that I won’t cope as I have a hypersensitive gag reflex. Is there any alternative at all? I have exposed roots and feel self conscious. I have a bridge and crowns across my 6 upper front teeth. I have a lot of bone loss, especially on the top right hand side. Due to neglect my oral hygiene as a child was very poor. I have worked very hard in adulthood to maintain good oral hygiene. I am a 56 year old non smoker.
Could You Offer Me Any Advice? I Find It Hard To Talk To People As I’m Embarrassed Over My Missing Teeth.
Wednesday, July 30th, 2014Hi Dr Riten. I have lots of broken teeth at the back and some are missing. I have not gone to the dentist for years as I’m so embarrassed about them. They started getting bad after I had my first child I now have 6 children. I have been in a relationship for a few years and I have never kissed him, also I don’t really talk to people as I don’t want them to see my teeth. When I do have to talk to people I put my head down. I’m 35 years old. I’m so depressed and down and to be honest I find it hard to be happy any more. I don’t know what to do. Could you offer any advice?
I Don’t Like The Shape And Colour Of My Teeth. Is It A Good Idea To Get Them Replaced By Dental Implants?
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014Can I get or do I need dental implants if I don’t like my teeth? I have the money and I am prepared for the surgery it’s just I don’t like the look of them. There’s nothing wrong that I know of with them other than the shape and colour. Even after I brush them or should I just get them shaped and whitened? What would be the best option? When I was little my teeth kept falling out like I’d lose one then another two later but now I’m older it doesn’t happen. My dad had to get his taken out and dental implants put in because his fell out when he was little and then again and then later in life so I don’t know if I would have the same problem. I don’t want to get older and have no teeth or missing ones in my mouth. Thank you.
I Am Unsure As To Whether Dental Implants Are Suitable For Me At The Age Of 74. Is It Wise?
Monday, July 21st, 2014Hello Mark. I have been assessed for dental implants for my top jaw. Is it wise at my age 74 to have this work done? I am in very good health but have fairly severe periodontitis, and I do not want to put myself into a position where I have to have remedial work done in my 80’s if I survive that long? I currently have a bridge of 4 at the front, two crowns and I have lost all wisdom teeth and one molar(5) in upper left jaw. The teeth in my upper jaw are mostly loose, and the bridge which was done in 2012 is loose. I have recently taken antibiotics and have been using hydrogen peroxide mouthwash, my mouth has certainly improved in recent weeks. I have had gum disease for several years, but the severity of it has only recently become apparent. I have attended for dental treatment on a regular basis all my life. My main fear is that the periodontitis will continue regardless if I have implants. I have also been recommended for a course of intensive hygiene treatment.
