hi im looking for some advice/information please what are the options/best solution to repairing a loose post crown connected to a bridge and another post crown? on the upper jaw, at the front, one of the tooth routes has apparently got a split (not certain??) and the advice given was to remove the tooth completely, wait 3-6 months for it to heal and then fit a new bridge spanning the gap of three teeth. is this a recommended course of action couldnt the existing bridge just be cemented back in? (i have a new dentist and im a bit unsure of her!) any response is welcome thank you

What is the best solution to repair a loose post crown connected to a bridge and another post crown?
Friday, January 4th, 2013I don’t agree with my dentist’s opinion on the shade of my new crowns or his behaviour. Can I go elsewhere?
Thursday, January 3rd, 2013 Hi
I recently visited a dentist as the crowns on my front teeth were looking pretty awful and had a black line around the top. As I was going to an important wedding I said maybe it would be best to wait until after Christmas but he insisted that they would be finished in time. The dentist suggested changing all four at the same time as he could then possibly alter the teeth slightly, making them a bit smaller. I said that would be great , I told him that I was happy with my teeth just hated the black lines. He went ahead and did the impressions and then told me that I shouldn’t have such white teeth as white teeth were for young people, I didn’t think I was that old at 51. I told him that I just wanted the same shade that I already had. At the end of the visit, I asked if I could look at the shade that he was thinking of doing and I was horrified that he had picked a dark yellow colour. I told him that I didn’t like it and he suggested that I go and visit the technician. The technician suggested A2 which I was more happy with as my originals were A1 and B1 but had obviously darkened a bit over the years. I told him that I would be happier with A1 but wouldn’t mind if he could maybe do something between A1 an A2. The technician agreed. My husband then visited the dentist for a filling and the dentist said that he wasn’t very happy with my choice of shade and made this very clear to my husband. I have now had a letter from him saying that the crowns won’t be started until I write a letter confirming that this was my decision. I’m really unset as I now have a wedding to go to with really awful temporary crowns and I really don’t want to go back to him but will I be able to go elsewhere now as he has the impressions of my original crowns. I haven’t paid him anything yet. Where do I stand? I would be really grateful for a reply.
Is having root canal treatment part of the process of replacing a crown?
Thursday, December 6th, 2012Dear Dr Hughes,
I really need an advise and hopefully you would be willing to help.
I have a crown placed 16 years ago and now it has to be replaced. I went for a consultation and my dentist told me that before replacing the crown, he has to do the root canal treatment because what I have is not long enough, :-/ Is this a common process of replacing a crown?? I find his reason not convincing enough, please give me an advise what to do best, because I really need to replace my old crown the soonest, it’s starting to break little bit.
thanks.
Best regards,
Can the NHS help me with crowns and veneers following an accident?
Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 Hi,
I was involved in an RTA last February, I lost 1 tooth and had a lot of damage to my other 4 front teeth. The NHS dentist I went to did (in my opinion) a really poor job. They patched them up with filler, using two different types so they don’t even match! The sizes are wrong and the bridge he put in sticks out like a sore thumb. I had root canal on both my upper two front and and the damage on one was half the tooth missing. I’ve had to go back as the filler has come off twice. Surely I need crowns or veneers? I cannot afford to go private. Where do I stand getting this sorted on the NHS? I’m 31 and have taken really good care of my teeth, check ups every 6 months/brushing/flossing. I’ve never even needed a filling so this is all very upsetting.

What price would it be to have three silver fillings replaced with tooth coloured fillings?
Monday, December 3rd, 2012Hello there. I need a quote from you if possible. I want three silver fillings replaced with composite tooth coloured fillings as soon as possible. Also I want a metal cap covered with porcelain and a single bridge for one toot that is missing . I know you may ask to come in for a consultation but I have been to several places who have all agreed this is the cosmetic dentistry I need. So just a quote would be great and if it’s suitable i will be happy to come in for a consultation. Regards

What is the difference between a capped cusp amalgam and an adhesive onlay?
Thursday, November 15th, 2012 Dear Dr Hughes
I wanted to ask what is the difference between a capped cusp amalgam and an adhesive onlay? what are the clinical differences and under which circumstances would you pick one over the other? which one is clincally better and is the cost for both the same or is one more expensive then the other? Could you also please tell me the clinical procedure involved.
I would be ever so grateful if you could answer the above questions as i could not find out the difference between the two on google unfortunately.
Kind regards
Iram
