My upper back teeth are worn down and I’ve never had crowns fitted. My dentist won’t address my concerns and said to leave
them as they are. I’m 43 years
old. My lower teeth are
capped and I have a denture on the other side. The advice given is to leave them for another year. I think the lack of length of the teeth
on both upper back set will be too short to address with crowns.
Due to immune problems with my health for many years and allergies
to foods, my teeth have suffered as
a result. I look forward to receiving your advice.

I’m Worried By My Worn Down Teeth, My Dentist Doesn’t Think Crowns Are Suitable. What Can I Do?
Thursday, November 14th, 2013Can You Recommend A Top Dental Clinic To Fit Permanent Crowns?
Tuesday, November 5th, 2013Hello Dr Shaffie. Can you recommend a top dental clinic to fit permanent crowns? I have temporary crowns in two adjacent molar implants fitted a year ago. How much should I expect to pay?
The current crown is a twin crown fitted into typical titanium abutments, which are fitted very well and securely.
I need to have top quality work done and cost is not the big issue. Reliable work and after care is most important. My oral hygiene is very good and enjoy good health . I am 70 years of age and I would like this problem sorted out.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer me.
I Recently Had Four Crowns Fitted But Have Come To The Conclusion They Are Too Long, Is It Possible To Have Them Shortened?
Monday, October 21st, 2013Hi, I’ve recently had 4 crowns fitted on my upper 4 front teeth.
I thought they looked okay before I had them cemented in place but after a few days with them I’ve come to the conclusion they are too long. Other people have commented on this also. They are also brighter than my other teeth, but this was not so noticeable in the dentist chair and I know that can not be fixed now.
I was wondering is it possible to have Zirconia crowns shortened and reshaped at the bottom and if so by how much, 1mm maybe?
My Grinding Is Causing My Crown To Come Loose, What Kind Of Treatments Should I Consider?
Friday, October 11th, 2013I have previously had two replacement crowns in both front teeth from a young age. I later replaced one of them with a screw in crown. I have a problem with grinding my teeth as well. My dentist has suggested I have short teeth and should use a guard but I grind my teeth in the daytime so not sure how this would help? The other and main problem is my screwed in crown is receding due to the grinding apparently. It feels loose and is painful. There is no infection but I would like this replaced and have asked about a bridge, my dentist has said no because it would take to long to heal and I would need my healthy teeth removed. I am confused, do I need to wait until it falls out or can I seek alternative treatments?
I Feel Silly Going Back To My Dentist A Third Time, Why Didn’t My Dentist Polish It When I Went Back A Second Time?
Friday, September 13th, 2013Earlier this week I had two top front crowns replaced however when I got home I realised that one crown was longer on one site. I went back the next day and my dentist filed some of the crown down , a little too much if I’m being honest but he made me feel so silly for coming back I did not feel like I could say anything so I just left.
The problem is the filed tooth feels so rough and sharp and I am constantly aware of it when I talk as it rubs on my upper lip and tongue, but I feel too silly to go back again. My question is should my dentist have polished my tooth or something else in order to smooth it out? Thank you.
My NHS Dentist Has Recommended Gold Crowns, What Are The Alternatives Available To Me?
Friday, August 9th, 2013Hi I’m writing in because I am 52 and have always grinded my teeth a bit so consequently my teeth have worn down and now I have difficulty chewing without it hurting. I have also told that I also need root canal treatment on one tooth. Unfortunately the NHS have only offered me gold teeth fillings as an option but I really do not want to end up with a mouth full of gold, I just don’t think it will look very nice.I think they’ve offered gold because it’s a strong material isn’t it? And it’ll be suitable for what I need as my teeth have become rather week from the grinding over the years.Would implants be an option for this sort of complaint? I think it’s probably just 4 teeth that actually need fixing? Thanks for your time any help will be great.
What Is The Best Solution For Throbbing Pain In The Maxillary Central Incisors?
Monday, July 29th, 2013Hi Doc, I wanted to know what is the best solution for throbbing pain in the Maxillary central incisors with pfm capping and done 2 yrs back on both. I am 26 , have no history of trauma.I had this pain 2 months back , to which the doctors declared my lateral maxillary incisor non-vital supposing it to be acute periapical abcess and did an RCT to it.I had an ortho treatment ( with braces and RCT on 11, 21) when I was 15 with metal capping because my permanent maxillary incisors on eruption were brittle and showed signs of discolouration. Doctors said my mother might have had some medications while she was pregnant with me, due to the reaction of which I had distorted permanent teeth on eruption. Now I have again started to get this throbbing pain on both the incisors for the past 1 month post Lateral incisor RCT , and every doctor I visit says go for episectomy , which I dont want to since there is no gum boil , no mobility in both the teeth , no visible swelling or inflammation, just dull throbbing pain which gets really aggravated during the nights. I have been constantly put on antibiotics for past 2 months , and undergone OPG . Please advice some line of treatment . I donot want to go in for episectomy for sure. Thank a mil!
I’m Not Happy With My Crowns As They Are Sitting On My Lips, Please Help!
Friday, July 26th, 2013Hello, I have recently had most of my teeth crowned in December and didn’t like them as the front teeth appeared to go in like they used to. So to try and solve this I paid my dentist again and they look great, perhaps a bit dull though but not as bad as the were…anyway the problem I am having is they feel like they are all sitting on my lip and it looks like I have a bit of a sad face when I open my mouth. The problem seems to be worsening and I’m not sure what I should do. Do you think this is because they never straightened my teeth at the start as the were quite badly damaged? Thanks for your time.
