I Want Natural Looking Cosmetic Treatment. Do You Know How I Can Achieve This?

Thursday, June 26th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I recently had a faulty dental procedure on my upper anterior teeth and I am extremely anxious and disappointed with the outcome. To explain what happened:
I had an extremely small cavity between my front upper anterior teeth whose fillings have been changed over the last couple of years because of staining. Approximately five months ago, I asked the dentist to redo that filling but she couldn’t acquire the right shade after three attempts. I was travelling for work the next day and I visited another dentist that was referred to me by a friend. This dentist literally sawed deep into my teeth, and after creating a deeper cavity, filled it and my teeth began to look bigger. So I went back to my original dentist and she removed the excess filling. While performing this procedure she chipped off a portion of my teeth.

I finally went to a cosmetic dentist that then refilled and bonded the chip but my teeth look big and bulky and artificial which has left me depressed and extremely sad. I had perfectly normal and natural teeth but this is the outcome. I would like to find out if you can help me achieve my goals at a reasonable price? How do I get this problem fixed before another dentist ruins my teeth. I don’t like the look of artificial teeth and the shape of my teeth. Please help.

My Tooth Is Rotten And Wobbly. Should I Get This Seen To Straight Away Or Wait Till After My Daughter’s Wedding?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. My back tooth is rotten and half fell out years ago. It caused me no discomfort for a long time but now the other half is wobbly and is making me very uncomfortable. What do I do? My daughter is getting married in 2 days and I don’t want to be in pain for that day. The tooth can’t be pulled as I was told a while back my gums need to be cut to get it out. Should I leave it and hope it doesn’t fall out and cause more pain or do I go dentist now? Thanks.

My Front Tooth Cracked After Root Canal Treatment. I’m Always Scared Of Going To The Dentist. What Do You Think I Should Do?

Friday, June 20th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. My front tooth has cracked and a piece has fallen out, but this tooth has also had root treatment done to it and since then has started to rot at the back and two bits of tooth have fell off. What would be best for me to do? I always have to get sedation when I go to the dentist and I’m very scared of going. I don’t know what would be best or what I can get as the tooth is rotten. What do you think I should get done and when should I get it done? Due to work I can’t get time off for about 2 weeks.

I Had My Teeth Shortened As They Were Chipped. Now I Can’t Make Certain Sounds, Can You Help Me?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have had my teeth trimmed quite a bit due to being chipped. I now feel uncomfortable whenever I have to make a th sound. Is that due to trimming? And I just can’t remember how I used to do it. Before having them trimmed I used to make my tongue hit the back of my tongue mostly. With the shorten teeth it automatically wants to go underneath the teeth which doesn’t feel good. Do you have any tips for getting speech back after dental treatment? It’s really bugging me. Thanks.

I Recently Broke My Tooth In Half After An Accident. Which Treatment Would I Need To Consider For This?

Monday, June 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I hope you can help me. Recently, my front tooth’s lower portion broke due to a bad accident. I guess that my half tooth broke. I want to know which treatment should I go ahead with? Which treatment is more durable and involve less invasive surgery to correct. I’d also like to know how much the various treatments cost. Thank you for listening to me and I look forward to hearing from you.

I Had A Tooth Snap Off Weeks Ago. When I’ve Finished With The Antibiotics Do I Go To My Dentist Or The Hospital?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I had an upper right tooth snap off several weeks ago. It caused me no pain at the time, however in the last few days it has and is causing me serious pain and extreme facial swelling. My GP has prescribed antibiotics but the pain remains regardless. What can I take to try to relieve it? When I have finished the antibiotics do I go to a dentist or hospital? There are still remnants of the tooth in the gum but the pain is awful. I have very little funds and need to know where to turn. Thank you for your reply in advance.

I Have Extreme Dental Phobia And My Teeth Are In A Pitiful State. Do You Think I Will Need To Undergo Surgery?

Thursday, May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I am the mother of 4 boys and I am 47 years old. I have extreme dental phobia. I haven’t been to a dentist for more than 15 years! Now my mouth is really in a pitiful condition. I am planning to visit a dentist now as I have lost my smile and being a teaching assistant I feel that it is an important tool to communicate with children.
I have a question: Most of my teeth are broken up to the gum-line. After 4/5 years my gum is now closed and the root I assume must be inside. I have never had any infection/ pain or abscess. Do you think I will need a surgical extraction? I wish I could get my smile back as I am willing to extract all of my teeth and get dentures.
Thank you for your precious time.

Hi, My Child Has Broken Her Front Tooth. Will It Continue To Grow So It’s Not So Noticeable In The Future?

Friday, April 25th, 2014
Q.

Hi there. I am very anxious as my 2 year old daughter has just chipped a large part of her front tooth yesterday. The dentist this morning said it doesn’t look too bad as she is not in any pain and eating and behaving normally at the moment, but advised an X-ray on Monday morning at King’s.

He did say it may have to be taken out though and this fills me with dread as it’s such a shame for her beautiful smile.

Hopefully it wont have to be extracted. But the question is if it doesn’t, will it still grow a little at this early age and so not be so noticeable over time and can a 2 year old’s tooth be bonded both to make sure surrounding teeth grow in line and of course for the cosmetic reason? Thanks.

I Need An Emergency Dentist Before I Go Abroad. Do You Have Any Tips In Case I Don’t Find One?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I need your help. My top back tooth has just started to disintegrate. Yet, I am off on 2 mission works on Saturday to Africa where it is obviously not advisable to get dental treatment. I doubt I will be able to get any treatment in this country before I go and considering that Monday is a bank holiday – Can you suggest anything that will keep me going? There is no pain at the moment but I’m starting to worry that it will cause long term problem if I don’t get it seen too in time. Thank you for your time.
