Very sensitive and sore teeth want to have it replaced with immediate dentures

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I am 52 years young, I want to take out all my remaining teeth,as they are very sensitive and very sore. I cannot drink or eat cold and hot food or drinks (I have 10 in the upper jaw and 9 in the lower jaw) I am diabetic using an insuli. Is it possible to take them all out at the same time and I be fitted with immediate dentures?

WILL THIS BRIDGE DEFINATELY NOT LAST, AND IF SO WHY DO DENTISTS USE THIS METHOd?

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I RECENTLY UNDERWENT EXTENSIVE COSMETIC TREATMENT OF WHICH PART OF IT WAS TO REPLACE A FRONT TOOTH THAT WAS MISSING.AT THE BEGGINING OF MY TREATMENT MY DENTIST ADVISED A THREE UNIT FIXED BRIDGE. BUT ENDED UP PUTTING IN A TWO UNIT BRIDGE WITHOUT ADVISING ME. THE FALSE TOOTH THAT REPLACES THE GAP IS NOW ATTATCHED JUST TO ONE TOOTH. I HAD A SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THIS WILL NOT LAST AND THE TOOTH SUPPORTING THE FALSE ONE IS ALREADY MOBILE. I GAVE THE SECOND OPINION TO MY DENTIST WHO HAS NOW SAID THAT I SHOULD HAVE HAD AN IMPLANT, WILL THIS BRIDGE DEFINATELY NOT LAST, AND IF SO WHY DO DENTISTS USE THIS METHOd?

Could you advise the best course of action to improve the appearance of discoloured teeth when you have a crown?

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I have been thinking for some time about how I can improve the appearance of my teeth. My main problem is that I would like them to be whiter. However, I have a crown on my front tooth due to falling off my bike as a child. I assume that if I had my teeth whitened the same procedure could not be performed on this crown? Could you advise the best course of action to improve the appearance of discoloured teeth when you have a crown? Thank you

I cannot stop sucking on the ceramic plate

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi. I have a partial upper plate, there are four center teeth and two small back teeth. The ceramic plate is very light and transparent, and the I like the teeth, but the PROBLEM Even though it has been about two months since I had it fitted, I cannot stop continuously sucking on it. I believe it fits well and I have used some fixitive to try and stop moving it by sucking. It is not really getting easier, somedays I may forget about it for a while when I am busy, but then Iam aware of it and my habit of sucking. I am wondering if I could have some small holes in the bored thru. and if that might release the pressure, the food always gets in anyway, so that would not matter. any suggestions please help.

Still in pain after implants

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had the first stages of my tooth implant done on Friday afternoon and its now Monday. I have to go back in 3-4 months to have the last stages of this complete, which is the tooth implant fitted. Its my front right tooth on my lower jaw. My titanium screw went in ok and my dentist took a x-ray of it on his very expensive new digital gadget x-ray thing?? He has been doing implants for a long time and had been reserching it for 24 years or so and seems very specialized in tooth implants. I trust him and his work and he has been fantastic in explaining the procedure to me and covered all my options before I had the implant done. He was very happy with the x-ray and he sat me down to have a look at it afterwards, he showed me that the titanium implant was very central so as not to close to the teeth either side and that he was very pleased with it. He gave me a prescription of Amoxil (as I had a family meal and drinks planned for the weekend and wanted to be able to have a drink). I have been taking these all weekend following the directions of what I had been told, I have also been doing the bolied salt water solutions to keep the area clean. I am just a little concerned as I am still in quite allot of pain, I have a terrible ache in my lower jaw, the skin around the implant is very sore…….could this be due to the stitches being to tight?? I wanted to just ask if this is normal to still be in pain after 3 days? I have been taking Cuprofen (Ibuprofen 200mg)2 every 4 hours or so but I keep waking up in the early hours really wishing I could take more as the ache is very consistant. Last night I took 1 paracetomol, I had a quick look on the internet to see if it was safe to do so and most reviews said yes but not to make a habbit of it. I have never been into taking any paracetomol as hate relying on drugs but I am very sore and cant get on with my day at all. Would you kindly be able to advise me if this is normal in the healing process or should I be worried about any nerve damage or infection??? I dont have any numbness or tingling at all but just very sore! Again, its the nerve damage and infection I am really concerned about. I have to say my dentist didnt mention anything about the nerves and was very happy with my x-rays? Kind regards.

what is the cost of the six month smile treatment

Thursday, March 26th, 2009
Q.
Hey, 6 Month Smiles treatment… Do you do?! Can you give me an idea of the average cost? (total inc retainer) rather than the rubbish long ‘avoiding the question’ answers you find everywhere online!) I am keen to get this treatment, and have emailed several other dentists in the UK, so please get back to me ASAP so that we can get a consultation arranged and begin treatment? Many thanks,

Advice on cosmetic dentistry

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi there I require some advice on both cosmetic dentistry and dealing with an anxious ( to say the least ) patient. I’m 27 and I require some dental work the cosmetic part being my front tooth now is slowly eroding and decaying truthfully now it’s getting worse and I’m starting to avoid speaking to people. My back teeth are in quite an awful state now as well. throughout my life being a neglected child and turning for a short period to making myself sick and again truthfully neglecting my own dental health. The upshot being I’m terrified of needles. Over the years I’ve had some treatments usually via force but never found a dentist that has been patient enough to treat me long term. Either that or use sedation such as Ketamin or at least 8 general anaethetics neither of which I was happy with. WHilst I’m not in any pain I do feel I need to at least start seeking some help before I lose my front tooth and suffer other consequences as a result of my back teeth being the way they are. Ideally I’d like to see a dentist who will see me not in the dental chair just a one on one discuss a basic plan with me. I’m happy to work with hypnotherapy (I have given birth twice and self hypnotising not required or wanted any pain relief) When I search I can’t find any in the local area is there a directory? For the interim I will not be able to have any pain relief in any form nor have lengthy treatments because I’m breastfeeding my young son. Thank you very much for your time
