Now My Gum Has Fully Healed, Would It Be Possible To Have Three Implants? What Would This Cost?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have had a number of teeth extracted over a 5 year period, the last being a year or so ago. The gum has now fully healed leaving no hole. My question is: Can I now get an implant? A replacement tooth to fill the gap left behind from a missing tooth even years after the tooth was extracted? If so, what is the procedure and rough idea of costs for 3 replacement teeth? Does it involve making a hole in the gum to place the implant in? Thank you.

I’m Concious Of My Smile Now That My Crowns Have Dropped. What Can I Do To Fix This?

Friday, April 11th, 2014
Q.

Dear Mark. I have 2 post crowns on the upper right 1 and 2. The 2 crowns have dropped and they are now longer than the rest of my teeth. They have been like this for a little while. As far as I know there is no reason for them to have dropped. There is no movement of the crowns they have just dropped. I am very conscious of it and try not to smile as much. Can the crowns be filed down so they are the same length as the rest of my teeth or will I have to get replacements? If so, would I need to have new posts as well? I have been to the dentist who took X-rays and he said that they are fine and ‘well stuck in’. He gave me no help what so ever, he just wanted to get the next patient in. Any information you could give me would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Why Am I Getting Pain When I Chew Directly After Root Canal Treatment?

Friday, February 28th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I had my first sitting for a root canal where the dentist cleaned the tooth and canals and he used local anaesthesia. It’s been two days and I am taking antibiotics and pain killers. But the my teeth hurt whenever I chew and the pain comes from temporary filled teeth. Please let me know if this is normal? How do I know whether the root canal done by this dentist is correct? Please help me or advise me on what to do?
Also what can I do to prevent this from happening when I get my crown fitted. Thank you for your help in advance.

My Crowns Are Coming Loose. What Would It Cost Me To Have A Bridge For All Five?

Thursday, February 27th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew, I have a question for you that I hope you can help me with. I have five crowns in the front of my mouth and I would like to have them all on one bridge. Could you please tell me if there are any problems with this suggestion and if it would be a good idea? What kind of cost would I be expecting for this type of treatment?

I am looking to do this as the crowns don’t fit every well and are always coming loose, I have been told a bridge would look and fit a lot better, if you can advice me what I should do that would be great. Thanks a lot.

Bad Diet Has Caused Acid To Erode My Teeth, What Is The Cheapest Way To Restore Them?

Monday, December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hi.  I’ve got bad acid erosion on my teeth from living off of diet coke for years! My molars are particularly bad but also my front teeth have small chips. I have hardly any money and was just wondering if you knew of the cheapest possible out come I could have to repair some of this damage. I really do not want metal crowns as am a singer and this will completely knock my confidence. I am extremely upset I have let it get to this point and know there is no way I can pay thousands of pounds. I feel at a complete loss!
If you could let me know what you think may be the treatment I am looking at and if you know of any NHS dentist who would provide tooth coloured crowns on molars.
Thank you very much for your time.

I Think My Porcelain Crowns On My Two Front Teeth Look Too Big. Can I Get Them Reshaped?

Monday, December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I’m looking for some advice. I recently got porcelain crowns on my front two teeth. I think they look a little big, can they be shaped now that they are in place? I have always hated my two front teeth as they looked too big. I was hoping that the crowns would have made them look smaller in comparison. If they try and shape them now, will it most likely dull them? Is there anything else that could go wrong if I got them reshaped? Thank you. Any advise you can provide me with on this matter would be very helpful.

I’d Like To Know If Snap On Veneers Would Be A Suitable Solution For Me?

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I hope you can help me. I have got a lot of crowns and bridges which are mixed throughout my mouth but also some of my own teeth in between. Top and bottom, but mostly the top teeth. Am I still able to have snap on veneers? Also my bridge on top of mouth has 4 front teeth shorter than other teeth – Can those 4 teeth be made longer? I also have a crown which has fallen out and not been replaced making bottom of my teeth at the side show through. Thank you for your advice.

I Had To Have Crowns At An Early Age After An Accident. I Don’t Like Them As They Are Bulky, What Would Be Best To Replace Them?

Wednesday, November 27th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. When I was 10 years old I had a accident and killed the nerve in my two front teeth, I ended up having them filled down and crowns put on both. 22 years later I have noticed the tops where my gum line is, looks grey and I have always felt the teeth don’t look natural, they are bulky and bigger than my other teeth. Am I able to get these replaced on the NHS? I have asked a dentist to do them once before and he said they did not need replacing. What is your opinion on this? Thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with.

I Want To Know Whether I Should Straighten My Teeth Before Getting Caps Or After?

Tuesday, November 26th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I’d like to discuss a problem I have. Currently I’m undergoing extensive gum grafting and implant preparation for two teeth with an eye toward crowns for the rest. My desire is to have my teeth straightened at some point. Still, my other dental team members seem to be running into interference with my orthodontist, so I don’t have his input. Should I wait until my teeth are capped and the implants installed before seeking further alignments? I hope you can help me with this and offer your advice. Thank you.

I’ve Been Told I Grind My Teeth And Now My Veneers Are Falling Apart. Is There A More Durable Option?

Friday, November 15th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr.Andrew. I had three veneers done on my front teeth two years back and later they started falling off. I was told by my doctor to use a mouth guard as I may be grinding teeth. Also I took all precautions as to maintain them like I don’t bite anything hard, etc. I don’t like them now, they keep on falling and I’ve tried every other option. Do I have any other option apart from veneers as I don’t want to continue with them? Or can I go for implants as veneers are an irreversible procedure? Please help me with this problem and thank you for your advice.
