Are There Any Alternatives to Dentures?

Monday, July 20th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I currently have three missing top right teeth and have a denture, but it’s making me gag and I’m finding it very hard to eat and drink. It is also rubbing on my supporting teeth and making holes. I brush twice daily and have a healthy diet. My teeth are making me very depressed and my dentist isn’t very supportive. I have always had a fear of the dentist and when I lost my first adult tooth I was brave and went to a dentist. At first he was friendly but now I feel that he just does what he likes with my teeth and he doesn’t listen to me and about how I feel and what I want my teeth to look like. I am currently out of work so I understand some things are not available on the NHS but it is causing me serious depression and my children keep asking me why I have funny teeth. I never smile in pictures or want to talk to people, this has caused me to be come very un-sociable.

Can Anything Be Done About the Plaque at the Bottom of My Teeth?

Monday, July 20th, 2015
Q.

Hello,

I have TMJ and the last time it flared up badly my jaw locked near shut for over 6 months (probably closer to a year). During these months I very much struggled to brush my teeth and they have been damaged. When my jaw finally unlocked, I went to get the issues fixed, but some remain and I keep having problems.

My big concern at the moment is white plaque staining along the bottoms of some of my teeth that can’t be removed. Concerning one tooth in particular (which I know had staining on it), I looked at it and it seems as though the plaque has finally eaten into that tooth as the part it was on is gone. I’m not sure if it’s the enamel or the plating has come away. I’ve booked an appointment with my dentist, but can anything be done for the bottom of the tooth? I’m worried that nothing is going to be able to be done for it (and ultimately that I’ll end up losing it).

Thanks.

What is the Most Affordable Cosmetic Treatment for Dental Fluorosis?

Monday, July 20th, 2015
Q.

Hi. I have severe – and I mean severe – fluorosis which I find a liability on my social and economic life. What is the most affordable cosmetic treatment for dental fluorosis? I was born abroad in a Florine heavy part of Africa where almost everybody had the problem. All my teeth are discoloured (brown and dark brown). I am not looking for an expensive cosmetic solution, what I need is a less invasive and affordable solution. Thank you.

Are There Any Schools or Colleges That Provide Cheaper Teeth Whitening?

Friday, July 3rd, 2015
Q.

Hi. I’ve always had discoloured fangs and also I smoked for quite some years. I no longer smoke now and would love to get my teeth professionally whitened. However, due to the cost of this it’s out of my budget. Is there a school or college you know of that I could volunteer at for tooth whitening, either for free or for a lot cheaper? I’m from Leicester but obviously don’t mind traveling to get this done.

How Easy Is It For A Dentist To Remove Denseal From A Temporary Tooth?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2015
Q.

My question is: how easy is it for a dentist to remove Denseal from the enamel of a tooth fixed as a temporary repair for a chipped tooth? This is worrying me as I have an appointment next week.and like the other people, I am embarrassed about it.The repair covers the hole with a strip along the back of the tooth to stop it from falling out. It’s not meant as a permanent fix, just while I wait a month for my appointment. Thanks.

How Much Would a Full Smile Makeover Cost?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2015
Q.

How much work and how much will it cost to get a full smile makeover? I’m a single parent of two with no confidence due to really bad teeth, it has now effected my face shape due to having no back top teeth. All my bottom teeth are crooked and there are too many. My front tooth is pushed forward due to the next tooth pushing it out and I have half a tooth filled badly with a composite filling as the tooth is decayed.

How Can I Overcome My Phobia to Get the Treatment I Need?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2015
Q.

Hello I am 52 and have several problem teeth, either with cavities or broken. I have already lost 3 teeth and have been told another will have to come out. My mouth is constantly in pain from rotting teeth and bad gums. The problem is though, I am scared to death of dentists, last time I had anaesthetic I had a mini stroke in the chair and ended up in hospital. I am thinking I would like a new set of teeth, preferably implants, but know while my gums are the way they are, this is becoming less of a possibility. In the end the problem is so big, I am just taking pain killers constantly and hiding from the problem. What should I do?

Could I Still Have Implants with an Impacted Tooth?

Monday, June 15th, 2015
Q.

I need an expert’s opinion on implants. If I can have implants it wont be straight forward as I have a second tooth in the
roof of my mouth which never descended when my milk tooth eventually fell out when I was 35 years old .I was told that I was too old to have the tooth removed from top of my mouth. Now at the age of 63 I need implants and wonder if it would get the way. I feel only an expert would be able to deal with this.

It’s starting to give me a complex about smiling! Also my dentist doesn’t seem to be interested when I mention it to him so I hope you can help please.

I Have Had Many Teeth Removed. How Can I Get My Smile Back?

Friday, June 12th, 2015
Q.

Hello my question today is to ask about implants. Since a young age I have had epilepsy, I’m now 43 and growing up was difficult because of my fits. During said fits I would bite down hard to the point where my teeth would break and chip. Most wre taken out because of this. Adulthood was the same. I wear a plate now and most of my adult teeth are gone. My epilepsy is under control to a degree and not as bad as it was. Is there any treatment for me to have my smile back? It has impacted every area of my life and having a smile would change my life. Many thanks.
