Is composite bonding a good alternative to brace treatment?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello, I have just come back from a consultation about having a brace and the orthodontist advised me that he didn’t think this would be the best option as I had 2 teeth removed as a teenager and the only way to create more space would be to remove more. Instead he has recommended that my teeth are re-shaped and that he will use composite (something like that but not porcelain) to make them appear aligned. I had always thought that a brace would be the best option, but does this sound like a good solution? Thanks

My gums have receded by about 10mm, how can I repair them?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello
My question is one mainly involving my gums. They have receeded from their original position upon my teeth by about 10mm and i would like to ask if there are any procedures available that could repair them? This problem affects my confidence when smiling, especially if it is for a photo.
I also would like gaps that i have fixed so that i would eventually have a smile to be proud of,but, after already spending in excess of £350 i am of course looking for,as im sure you hear regularly, the cheapest procedure possible. Thank you for your time though, and i hope to hear from you soon.

Can I receive braces for free?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello Doctor, I am currently a 23 year old full time worker. I work for the nhs and i have always had very crooked teeth. This really gets me down and i feel very self-conscious. I had 12 teeth removed when i was younger due to overcrowding and i have now been left with a very unattractive smile. I would love to have braces fitted but cannot afford them privately, i know a few people who have had braces fitted for free and i would like to know if I’m in any way eligible for this work to be done because i work for the nhs? and how do i go about receiving the treatment? if not, do you know how i could spread the costs of the treatment? Thank you for your time.

I have protruding teeth, are there any quick treatments available to fix this problem?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Hi, i am 32 years old and I have problem with two of my front upper teeth. One of them is tilted around 45 degree angle and the other is straight but while smiling coming out of my lips.
Some 5 years ago I made a visit to my local dentist and he suggests me for wire braces. I used those for about 4 months only and because of my frequent visits to other part of world I was unable to continue with the braces.
I want to make those teeth straight. Is there any quick and reliable treatment available to make my tooth straight?
One more question regarding my gums. For last one year I realized that my gums are moving upwards, resulting in naked tooth roots. Is there any treatment available to re-grow the gums.

Thanks.

I have neglected my teeth because of dental phobia, can veneers fill in the missing teeth?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

hello dr moore i would like to start by telling you that i am very scared of going to the dentist and because of this i have neglected my teeth in the past , i have now decided to have my teeth repaired before its too late. i watched a program on tv last night about instant veneers and i am very interested about them because there isnt any drilling or pain involved (which is why i have being missing my dentist appointments in the first place). i have some of my side teeth missing and i was wondering if i could i have instant veneers to fill in the gaps or would i have to go to the dentist to have new teeth screwed in first then have the veneers that go over your teeth thanks for your time.

I am not happy with my crowns but my dentist will not replace them, what can I do?

Monday, May 28th, 2012
Q.

I recently had all old crowns in front replaced. Problem: I have a long thin face. The dentist who applied my old crowns followed the contour of my face when affixing the crowns. This filled my face out and dimished my long thin face.
With the new crowns, the “new” dentist (older dentist now retired) decided I needed thinner crowns and shorter ones. As a result, I look “sick!” She will not change them and instead told me “we could obviously not work together.” I sought another dentist who does not want to replace these crowns with thicker and longer crowns as well. He wants to do crown lengthening to the top 4 front and then “maybe” make the crowns a little bit thicker…but not much. Should I seek yet another opinion?

Is it the usual practise to leave teeth without veneers after caps have been removed?

Monday, May 28th, 2012
Q.

Hi

I am interested in getting porcelain veneers fitted, but am hesitant as I have been told I have to get my plastic caps drilled off first and wait two weeks to have my veneers fitted. My teeth underneath had worn away due to acidity and so do not have much enamel left after drilling and being capped.

My caps are on my four front top teeth so do not want to be without front teeth for this long.

I would like to know if it is possible to take off my plastic caps and have veneers fitted in one session. And also the price per tooth and location.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Do you think a dental implant will fix the gap in my teeth?

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012
Q.

My age is 30. In the lower jaw I have natural gap between two teeth. Previously this gap was very small and negligible. now since last 2-3 yrs it is increased. this gap is little less than one tooth size in width.
This is really very irritating, in looks and while eating. I dont have any other teeth problems other than that my all teeths are very yellow and seems like I smoke, actually i don’t. Should i go for implant? If yes do i need to go for 3-4 teeth implants or add single tooth? Does implant last for life and what care is required in the long run? please suggest any other solution otherwise.? Thanking you.
