I Have A Protruding Tooth That Makes Me Self Conscious When I Smile. Is It Safe To Remove? What Can Be Done To Help?

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor, I am a 38-year-old female who has one protruding upper incisor that grew before I lost my milk teeth. The rest of my teeth are fine. I had tried wearing braces once several years ago, but the separators the orthodontist used to create gaps between my teeth didn’t work. There isn’t much space between my teeth, and they are otherwise quite strong. I don’t really want to have the protruding incisor extracted because I feel all my teeth will become loose, however, I still want to make my upper row of teeth uniform because I am very-self-conscious when I smile. The protruding tooth does not create problems with closing my mouth, but I’d still like to fix it. Please can you advise me on what kind of treatment is best for me, where I could get it done and how much it would cost? Thank you.

I’m Considering Veneers – Will They Look Natural?

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013
Q.

Is it possible to have veneered two front teeth only? Also, I imagine it would be a challenge to match them to blend in with the rest my teeth? The front right tooth is half-filled and at the top where tooth meets the gum the enamel is quite damaged, it’s almost scraped and it’s become like a brown dent, gradually extending. Obviously I would think twice if they didn’t quite match up. There’s nothing wrong with my front left tooth though. Any advice would help me greatly? Thank you.

Q.

Hello Doctor Patel. Is gummy smile treatment risky? I understand there are risks with any kind of medical treatments but I would like some more reassurance please. Also, could you please tell me how much would it cost for this kind of operation?
and irrespective of my gummy smile how much can actually be corrected without the operation? It’s my friend, he’s having such a problem finding a form of treatment to help him fix his smile.. Just one more question, are there any specialist doctors in Ahmadabad city that can help? Thank you for any help in advance. I will pass the information on to my good friend.

The Bracket On My Brace Has Come Away Should I Be Really Worried?

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013
Q.

I have just had a metal brace fitted & less than 2 hours after fitting, I felt a small twang & on looking noticed that the bracket fixed to the one tooth that I have a porcelain veneer on (top tooth next to the main front tooth) but, had come away.

At the initial consultation, the orthodontist did say that he wasn’t sure whether the bracket would stick to the veneer or that the veneer might be damaged. I told him that the veneer was in fact 15 years old & I wouldn’t be too upset if I had to have it replaced. My orthodontist is closed on a Tuesday (tomorrow) & I don’t want to worry about this – can you advise?

My Inlay Fell Out, Will My Dentist Give Me A Better One?

Friday, June 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Bohara, my composite inlay has fallen out.The inlay was fitted as half of my tooth broke bad .What do i need to do ?? go back to my dentist an have a new inlay fitted .Is there a possibility that it will happen again ? My tooth was not suitable for a crown when I went as the break where near the gum line .Can you please be so kind to advise me what to do? Thanks. The inlay only  lasted two weeks and then it fell out .Are these inlays strong enough to be fitted and are there other alternatives which may be stronger ? I’m not sure about having another inlay unless I can be assured that it will last as long as it needs to. Would love to hear back from you soon, thanks.

How Much Would My Filling Cost From A Private Dentist?

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013
Q.

I have been to see an NHS dentist and says the enamel on my teeth is badly worn out. Was given a fluoride toothpaste but there was no improvement. I think the best bet would be to fill it, and am thinking of going private to make it quicker cos my NHS dentist keep asking me to come back next week and then another week and so on. It is really annoying cos all I need is to sort the tooth out so the pain can go cos it is giving me headache in my head and pain in my ears. NHS is wasting my time. So I would love to go private and would like a rough estimate of the fees am going to be paying for filling on private treatment.

I Have Throbbing Pain After An Extraction And Bracket Bonded Tooth, What Could It Be?

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hello, my query is slightly complicated so please bear with my explanation. I had a filling in my top tooth treads ago and also an extraction on the top my dentist placed a bracket bonded tooth in the gap by cementing the tooth to either side of the two supporting teeth, I feel a little pain in either my bottom right jaw or top right jaw don’t know why what do you think it could be? I don’t know how or what I can do to get rid of the pain it’s like a throbbing pain I haven’t had it in a long time, I am concerned as I brush my teeth 2 times a day and I also rinse with fluoride mouthwash by Colgate. How can I stop this pain? Not sure if its sensitivity either :/ please help thanks.

How Can I Close Up The Gap Between My Front Teeth?

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello! I am fifteen, and over the last half a year I’ve noticed a gap widening between my two front teeth. It is not too wide, but wide enough to be noticeable. I had this stupid way of drinking which involved me sucking drink through my front teeth. could this be the source of the gap? Also, to be honest with you my brushing routine is not as thorough as I’d like it to be. I know this is my fault and is something that I will work on. With the gap though, could this be a sign of something bad? If not, how can I stop the gap from widening? Sorry for the hassle!
Thank you.
