Hello Dr Mark. My problem is that my daughter is massively insecure about her teeth, she stopped sucking her thumb at the age of 15 (it was a serious habit) in order to be on the waiting list for braces she has to wait until she was 17! Unfortunately I do not have the money to go private or I would, have you got any tips in helping me with this problem or any alternatives in her receiving braces any quicker without going private? I hope you can help us with this. Thank you in advance for any information and advice you can provide us with

My Daughter Has To Wait Till She’s 17 To Get Braces And I Can’t Afford To Go Private. What Should We Do?
Friday, April 4th, 2014My Gums Have Receded, Can I Have The Gum Put Back In. What Treatment Is This Called And Are There Any Alternatives?
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 Hi Dr Patel,
Two questions I would like to ask please:
1. My gums have receded on my top teeth the four in the middle, I believe I can have the gum put back in, what is this called and any advice would be appreciated? 2. My daughter’s bottom teeth stick out over her top set. I got it checked out and her jaw line is fine. She has lost her two bottom teeth now and they are coming through, but I am sure she will need a brace or something to make sure the new top teeth coming through come over her bottom ones. She is nearly 6. Should I be making an appointment with orthodontist now?
I look forward to your reply. Kind regards.
I Recently Bumped My Tooth Which Has Started To Wobble And Is Hurting A Bit. What Options Do I Have?
Wednesday, March 5th, 2014Hi Mark, I’m 14, and recently I bumped my big adult tooth into something, it seemed a bit wobbly so I became sort of paranoid and began to wobble it. It gradually became looser but it’s not too loose. It’s also hurting a bit. Would I be able to go to my dentist and get brackets to support my teeth because I’m really desperate to get it fixed? I really want there to be another option so my teeth can stay in place. Is there anything I could do to stop in from hurting? Thanks, I hope to get some advice from you.
My Daughter’s Teeth Are Growing In Crooked And I’m Worried That She Will Be Teased. Is There Anything You Can Do?
Wednesday, January 15th, 2014My daughter is nearly 8 and I have noticed that her two top front teeth (they are her second teeth) are growing at strange angles and behind her two bottom teeth is another tooth growing behind. I’m really worried, at our last check up a few months ago the dentist told me not to worry but to be honest I can’t help but worry, although things can be done when she is older. I don’t want her or any of her friends to notice anything because she already suffers from being far too shy or too different. Could you suggest anything?
I’m 15 And Interested In Having A Smile Makeover. Could You Give Me An Approximate Price?
Friday, January 10th, 2014Hi, I’m a 15 year old female interested in having an affordable smile makeover. I am particularly interested in the snap-on-smile but was hoping that you might be able to advise me on the most affordable and most suitable option. I was also hoping you might be able to give me an average, approximate price of the options you may suggest. Thank you so much for your time and consideration, it is much appreciated.
I’m Thirteen And Can’t Tell If My Lateral Incisor Is Broken Or Not As It’s Loose. What Should I Do?
Tuesday, December 17th, 2013Hey, I’m 13 years old and I don’t really know anything about teeth, but I haven’t lost many baby teeth, probably around 5-10, but my lateral incisor is loose, and I can’t tell if it is broken or not and would like to know if you’ve heard of this before? The tooth is whiter than others, but if I pull it back, its only attached to the back of my gums, but the rest of it, (or the new tooth). If I look at it, where the bottom is, the part that is attached, fits nicely in the hole of the broken part. The tooth is getting looser, but I don’t know if its broke somehow, or if a new ones coming in. Any advice or information on this would really help? Thanks.
My Daughter Swallowed Too Much Toothpaste When She Was Young And Now They Are Really White On The Bottom. Is She Too Young For Treatment?
Thursday, November 28th, 2013Hi there Dr Moore, my 10 year old daughter’s two front teeth are really white on the bottom half. Our dentist has said she probably swallowed too much toothpaste when she was younger which has given her this appearance. He seems reluctant to give me any advice on cosmetic procedures, I appreciate she is a bit young but we would like to think there was hope as she is starting to become embarrassed of it now and I don’t want her to be teased about it at school. I would appreciate some good advice with this matter. Thank you.
I Feel Like I Get Judged About The Patches On My Teeth, But I’m Not Old Enough To Have My Teeth Whitened. What Can I Do?
Monday, November 18th, 2013On my front two teeth, one of them have a big white patch and it makes the rest of my teeth look more yellow than they actually are. And I’m starting to get a few others and the front of my upper teeth. I want to try whitening them but I’m afraid that white patch will get whiter, and I really want it off because I don’t feel comfortable with it and I feel like people are always judging about it. My dentist says I have to wait until I’m either 16/18 to get it off (he didn’t say how) but I don’t want to wait that long, what can I do?
My Daughter’s Teeth Are Discoloured, Could You Advise Me On Whitening Options?
Friday, May 31st, 2013Hi, My daughter is 14 years old and since her adult teeth came through they have flaws in them and lighter patches, particularly the front teeth both top and bottom. We have been told by our local dentist that this could be due to how she was developing in the womb. She is a Type 1 diabetic. As with other people who have written on this site it does affect her confidence and tries not to smile showing her teeth, as a developing young woman it’s starting to upset her much more and has been the subject of adverse comments at school. I understand that teeth whitening is not available on the NHS. The flaws seem to be in her teeth rather than staining. Are there any options at her age to make her teeth whiter. Advice much appreciated.
