Can you tell me the best modern brace to straighten my teeth?

Q.
Im ready to have braces, however i dnt mind cost but regardless of cost which is the best option for me for getting a better result as in the best brace and something not as painful like the conventional brace?? thanx
A.
Hi
It all depends on how severe your condition is .
If result is a priority and the condition is mild – invisalign may be suitable.
If it is more severe then a cosmetic fixed brace of which there are many.
I.e. 6 month smile, Damon clear, social 6 lingual brace

Hi, I’d like to enquire into the social 6 lingual braces and really at this stage would like to know if my teeth are mild/moderately crowded or too severely crowded for that particular treatment. Is this something I could find out at the inital free consultation? I’ve heard a lot about your practice and would like to pursue fixing my teeth, but would definitely be goingdown your finance route. Unfortunately I can’t afford C2A3100 at the moment to dedicate to a consultation if I then find out that I can’t get thesix month treatment.

I have had braces for 2 years now. I brush twice a day and brush with the brush on an angle to clean around the brackets. But still as often and as carefully as I brush I still see yellowing of my teeth on the parts of my teeth that are underneath the braces wire. To help clarify I have not been using a Proxy brush to clean the spaces under the wire because I do not own one and don’t know where to find them. Is it absolutly necessary to use these types of brushes when cleaning my teeth with braces, and is this yellowing occurring because I am not brushing properly? Or is it a cosmetic problem that could be corrected when my braces are taken off at the end of the treatment?

Please see your orthodontist and they will let you know what the discolouration is on your teeth. It is important to get this confirmed so your teeth are healthy once your braces are off. Regards

Kaela Says :

Hello – I am interested in lingual braces for 1 arch (my top set). I was after a guide price. It is not a complex case, although I do know an extraction (1 tooth) would be needed. Really I am looking for a rough guide price….hope you can help? I’ve had invisalign on my bottom teeth already which worked fine. My issue with the top teeth is that I had a ‘fang’ type tooth removed when I was young and my teeth grew to one side. They are straight but go off to one side if that makes sense? The adjustment is 3/4 mm.

July 8th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Elliott Says :

You will need an assessment for a definitive quote. Lingual braces start at £4000 per arch

Hi, I am interested in braces to straighten my teeth I have been looking at six month smiles and Invisilign. The main thing I do not like about my teeth is that I have more of a “v” shaped arch rather than a “u” shaped. Do any of the current cosmetic orthodontic treatments correct arch shape or do they just straighten your front teeth. Are there any other treatments available other than the two I have mentioned which can help correct arch shape. Thanks

I owuld recommed damon or I now use a tooth coloured version of this as they are the quickest and best ways to correct U shaped jaws.

One of the great options now is a lingual brace a brace on the inside of your teeth it is 100% invisable and can be acheived in as little as 3 months.

hi could you tell me the correct way to clean my aligners so they stay fresh and clean. I really want to keep the aligners from staining as well so is there any way you would recommend to keep them truly clear? any help you can give would be great

July 25th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Brennan Says :

Hi I recommend cleaning them with a soft bristle toothbrush, cold water (make sure it is not hot as this may warp them) and a small amount of toothpaste if needed. Rinse thoroughly afterwards. Other products available are sonic cleaners or Retainer Brite through your dentist or ‘Ortho Store’. You should have the Invisalign Use and Care Instruction booklet when they were originally fitted

Christy Says :

hello do you recommend invisalign for the treatment of buck teeth? my son is really self conscious about his two front teeth and i think invisalign would be the best treatment for him just because he is so shy. Do you think he will be suitable? thank you

August 16th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Joaquin Says :

Hi Invisalign can treat this but depends on how ‘buck’ they are. If the front teeth are just tipped forward then Invisalign will work very well. If the top teeth are quite a way in front of the lower teeth, he may need some teeth removed to allow them to come back or even further treatment. In this case Invisalign can treat this but fixed braces are often much quicker. I would recommend a consult with a expert Invisalign provider Good luck

Invisible braces are more costly than metal braces. Do book in to see an orthodontist who will advise you on the best option for you and associated costs. Regards,

Alexus Says :

If you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign, then the system can offer you a very discreet, virtually invisible, predictable brace that in many cases can work faster than the fixed braces. It is also removable so you can eat any food you like, which is a limitation with a fixed brace, and you can brush and floss your teeth as normal.

what is your opinion of invisalign instead of fixed braces? im really thinking of getting invisalign for my wonky front teeth, but im still thinking that fixed braces would be a better option and would be more effective. What do you think doctor?

September 7th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Avery Says :

Hi there! Invisalign most of the times can deliver the same or even better results than fixed braces as long as you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. I would suggest to have a consultation with an Invisalign provider in order to assess that.

Hi im going on holiday for 4 weeks but am in the middle of my invisalign treatment. Do you think i will be able to get 2 aligners in advance so I can take them with me? don’t really want to be stopping my treatment thanks

September 16th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Brad Says :

It really depends on whether you need space creation or not prior to fitting the next 2 aligners, as each case is different. I would recommend you ask your dentist as he will be able to tell you if it is possible.

I started wearing lingual braces approx 17months ago . I would say my two front teeth on top are about 1.5 mm longer than the others around them and braces as yet has done nothing to adjust the length problem. Can braces pull teeth down to actually make them the same length? I will have to ask my orthodontist but I’m just wanting a second opinion on the results possible with braces or will I have to have some teeth recontouring? Thank you

September 19th, 2011 at 08:47 PM

You may need a little bit of both but ask your orthodontist they can tell you more exactly

Blake Says :

hello ive heard of the term ‘refinements’ concerning invisalign, what is this? and does it cost extra? thank you

October 21st, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Grayson Says :

Hi there! Refinement means more aligners after your initial course, if a couple of teeth need more fine tuning. Approximately 1 in 5 cases will need refinement and it is usually associated with the severity of the position of the teeth before the treatment. The cost also depends on the difficulty of the situation. We quote you before the start of the treatment about the cost of refinement if that will end up be necessary. Hope this helps! Best Regards,

how often do you have to extract patient’s teeth with the inman aligner? I really hate needles and hate them even more when they’re being stuck into my gums, so if it was possible to have braces without the need for tooth extraction i would go straight ahead with it today! The problem is that my orthodontic situation concerns crowding at the front of my mouth, so im guessing i would need extraction. what advice can you give doctor on helping me with my problem? thank you very much for your time

December 16th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Heaven Says :

Extractions are not usually done with inman aligner treatment. Other options which may not require extractions are six month braces, clear braces or damon braces. In most cases, extractions are not usually necessary, but in a small percentage of cases they may be necessary. I would recommend a consultation to find out what is the best option for you.

Can you have a smile straightened in time for a wedding with the inman aligner braces? I have my own wedding to attend in 5 months and would love to actually look decent and have a nice smile when it comes to the photos. I’v always had bucked teeth (due to thumb sucking and dummy chewing when i was younger) and would really like to have this aspect of my smile sorted, so i can have a good smile on my big day. Is the inman aligner a good treatment for this kind of problem? Thank you

January 13th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Camila Says :

it is possible but it depends on the severity of the problem. I would therefore recommend a consultation with a dentist who offers this type of treatment asap. Best of luck

Ezra Says :

One of my front teeth is a bridge, attached on one side to the other front tooth. Basically I need my two lateral incisors to be brought in line with my other teeth. I had a brace briefly after having teeth removed when I was 12. Since then the teeth have moved. I have had the bridge in for over ten years and I am considering replacing with an implant. Would the bridge/impant make it unsuitable to pursue the inman aligner? If it would still be suitable would it be best to get the implant before or after alignment?

January 16th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Aryan Says :

I would recommend a consultation with a dentist who carries out implants/restorative/ teeth straightening treatments as your case appears to be more complex than usual.

It might just be my imagination but my inman aligner doensn’t feel like it is placing any pressure on my teeth anymore. I had it checked and tightened about 2 weeks ago and i am not meant to go back to my dentist for a little while, but my brace definitely feels slightly looser than it should. I’m guessing that i shoudl go back to my dentist, but im worried that she’ll blame me for the brace being loose and I can’t afford any extra charges. in you opinion, do you think my problem will be easy (and cost free) to change? thank you

am i likely to find treatment with teh inman aligner even though i am 60 years old? I used to love my smile but over the years it has moved slightly and the front two teeth almost cross. I would like to have my old, straight smile back, but really wouldn’t want to have fixed braces attached to teh front of my teeth. for that reason i would like to have the inman aligner or something like it which i could take out. Do you think the inman aligner would be a suitable treatment for me at my age? many thanks doctor

April 10th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Chad Says :

Hello there is no age limit for the inman aligner. It all comes down to how crowded your teeth are. if they are only mild, then it can work for anyone.! From your description it sounds ok!

I would like to know what would be the best treatment in correcting severely protruding larger-than-normal front teeth that apparently rest on the lower lip when my lips are closed. As I am already 17 I am worriedly wondering if treatment would be effective or whether it would take longer than expected? I am also apparently rather concerned if what I am experiencing is a serious case of overbite that requires surgical attention. Thank you for your advice

It sounds like you may need jaw surgery to correct the jaw position go and see an orthodontist and get a consultation.

Adriel Says :

I have recently been to the dentist and have been told that i will no be able to have a brace free of charge as the tooth that needs correcting is a minor problem, although its not their confidence its affecting. The braces they said will cost £2000 which to me is very high and not a reasonable price as most familys cant afford that, im still in full time education as im only 15 so i dont see the problem with fitting a brace

Hi I would advise that you go back to see the orthodontist who carried out the treatment as soon as possible for advice and the referral for the surgery or by all means make an appointment with our orthodontist who carries out a lot of this surgical work

IS THERE A MORE EFFECTIVE WAY FOR PREVENTING AN UNDER BITE THAN WEARING HEAD GEAR? SHE DOESN’T HAVE AN UNDER BITE NOW BUT AN ORTHODONTIST RECOMMENDED THAT IF WE GET HER BRACES THAT SHE NEEDS HEADGEAR. WHAT IS YOUR COMMENTS? SHE IS 14 YEARS OLD AND I WANT TO DO THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY. SHE IS A VERY ACTIVE GIRL AND IN A LOT OF AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND WHAT I’VE READ YOU HAVE TO WEAR IT 10-14 HOURS A DAY. BUT ALSO ONE WEBSITE MENTIONED IT WAS COMMONLY USED YEARS AGO NOT AS MUCH NOW.

It might be worth getting a second opinion as headgear is used less these days due to compliance issues

Ricky Says :

Could you tell me how much pressure the inman aligner put on your teeth? I would like my teeth straightened but one of my front teeth is a dental implant and i am unsure how much pressure it would be able to take. I keep in good dental health and always look after my teeth and the implant was because of an accident i had, which knocked out a tooth, so there is no worry about any decay and my gums are strong, but again, as the dental implant isn’t actually a proper tooth I was just interested in how much it could stand the pressure and would it move along with my other natural teeth? thank you for your help

May 28th, 2012 at 08:47 PM

The Inman aligner applies gentle forces and it would not move the dental implant

May 28th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Bella Says :

You should not get a lisp as the damon braces do not cover the back of your teeth. But please note that if you do get it, it would only be temporary and would last for a day or two.
