Can you recommend treatment for replacement teeth due to bone loss?

Q.
Salaam.
I am suffering from grade 4 mobility with bone loss. The affected teeth are upper 2 incisors and upper left pre-molar. The doctor has suggested fixed tooth implantation but I dont want to go for it. Can you please suggest me some alternate treatment?
A.
If you don’t want implants . I would want something that is going to last.
I’m assuming the bone around the lateral incisors next to the canines will also be poor. A bridge hanging off the canines after extraction of all the incisors and the first pre molar will buy you a few years otherwise accept a denture.
Once the teeth are taken out you will need to have a temporary denture for 3 months before you can have the bridge in order to allow the gums to heal.
Fundamentally address the issues why you are getting bone loss rather than reacting to it when it happens

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean to say that there is no other alternative? The doctors I consulted were not able to evaluate the reason of my bone loss. Can you please tell me what could be the possible reasons? Can childhood trauma be one of the causes?

Regular visits to the Dentist/Hygienist and a good oral regime at home. The bone that’s lost you would never regain, but you can make sure it doesn’t progress any futher.

I know it would vary but could you give a appoximate price for a full upper mouth denture implant

Abram Says :

It can vary greatly. for say 4 implants and a denture it would be about 12K, for about £15K you could have all on 4 with guided surgery, ie a fixed denture (bridge) placed on the day i.e. teeth in a day!

I have a tooth on the top that had 2 root canals that did not work. The dentists sent me to a specialist for this tooth . He then did another root canal which i still have but this root canal always bothered me and would swell up. After spending thousands on this one tooth I never went back. This was at least 12 years ago. Now this tooth is loose and bothers me more. Can anything be done for this tooth besides pulling it out?

Terry Says :

Unfortunately the best treatment would be to have it removed and replaced with a dental implant.

My dentist says that it is in good health, but the bone is maybe a tad too thin, i see that there are many different implants could you recommend the best kind for someone in my condition. The dentist said that my gums were fine so ive not got an infection to fight. thank you for any info and help you can give me

all the major implants are fine it sounds like you may need a bone graft though

I am 67 with good bone density and good overall health with the exception of some arthritis. I had two dental implants completed recently replacing rear lower molars, one on each side. They’re both sensitive to brushing and flossing, as if hitting a nerve. There is also initial sensitivity to cold, diminishing after a few seconds. I have felt these sensitivities through every phase of the implant process. The oral surgeon who did the implants was surprisingly rough during the uncovering. I suffered a lot of pain from that portion of the procedure. My regular dentist said maybe I have phantom pain. I feel like something is wrong and only going to get worse. Is this something that can be fixed?

Katherine Says :

you can fill a gap by one of three ways 1. Partial denture 2. A bridge 3. Implants Please read more about these on this site. Prices vary so you will need a dentist to have a look. Regards

Last December, I had to have the root of a front tooth removed( it had a crown on it,but the root had split and was not able to be repaired) The crown had been in place for a long time. The other front tooth is crowned .At the time I could not afford an implant, so had a small denture plate. Is it now possible to have an implant? … The dentist I attended also put onto the denture two other side teeth, as they were missing. Thanks

Barrett Says :

Yes an implant will be possible but you’ll need a scan to check the bone now that the area has healed

hi i have been advised by my dentist that implants would not be suitable for replacing my missing teeth on the lower jaw (all missing). i’ve been wearing a denture for years and it makes me look much older than i am. he told me that i have suffered bone loss and that implants would fail and he doesn’t offer the all on 4 technique. i’m looking for an implant dentist in the Leicester area who would be able to do the all on 4 because i am to believe that it works for those who don’t have much bone? i can’t cope with dentures, i need something else and i really do not want a bone graft..any other suggestions would be great. ta very much!
