Can I Reduce The Size Of My Front Teeth By Clipping Them Down Or By Some Other Means?

Q.
Hi Dr Patel. My question is: Can we reduce the size of the front teeth by clipping them down or some other means? My age is 23 years. At this age is there any possibility of reduction in size of teeth? What are the chances of reduction of big front teeth at this age? What is the criteria and deciding factors for reducing the front teeth size? Are there any long term effects of this treatment? I would really like to reduce the size of my front teeth and I would like your advice. Thank you for your time.

Hello and thank you for contacting me. It depends on the teeth and their structure but in general the teeth can be re-shaped and contoured using a process called enamelplasty. My advice would be to find a very experienced dentist with a good track record with this treatment and discuss your options. Further information on treatments which may be useful to you is available through this website. I hope this is helpful. Best wishes, Dr Riten Patel.
