Can I receive porcelain veneers on the NHS?

Q.
hello, im wanting to have porcelain veneers, im 18 years of age and im in full time education, and dont have a job, can i claim on the nhs ? or will i have to pay in full?
i go to Grangewood Dental Practice, in wollaton nottingham.
my teeth are ok but are just stained from tea and coffee and two chips are at the front of my teeth.
i really hope you can help me out as im in desperate need of these, due to me not being able to smile correctly without hiding behind my hand when i laugh.
Thanks, kind regards
A.
I would advise you to speak to your general dentist to see what can be provided for you under the NHS. Elective aesthetic/cosmetic treatments do not fall under the remit of care available on the NHS and these treatments in most cases have to be paid for privately. There may however be an option available to repair some broken or chipped teeth on the NHS so it’s best to ask your dentist for options if you are on a low budget and not able to make the investment in cosmetic dentistry.

Best wishes

My 50 year old brother has dreadful teeth : no enamel, stained chipped, very sensitive teeth. My brother has been a patient under the mental health for 15 years, during this time he has been taking a cocktail of drugs to control his condition, his teeth have deteriorated dramatically. Would he qualify for porcelain veneers on the NHS ? He is also on disability living allowance & unable to work. Please can you help ?

Kind regards
Allison
