Can I have all teeth removed and replaced with implants?

Q. hi i really want and need all my teeth removing as they are in a terrible state due to many reasons, is this possible and will a dentist do this? also i would like in there place dental implants. do you have any idea how long this whole procedure would take, and any suggestions and ideas of the price? also i do have gun disease, and i really want to get rid of it fast but it is bad, any suggestions? any help at all would be extremelly grateful many thanks :],
A. If you are losing teeth due to your gum problem then you need to see a periodontist for many visits to get on top of your gum disease. Losing teeth is the worst thing that can happen in dentistry and no dentist likes to pull out teeth. Also if you have gum disease then the chances of having implants are pretty slim. We have a fantastic Periodontist who works with us who will be able to help you Dr Federico Tinti ph: 0207 612 9810Justin Glaister

Can i get implants for all my teeth

Yes, if you have enough bone, implants can be used to restore either just one tooth or a whole mouth

Graham Says :

I have two maxilliary premolars missing. One from a long time ago, which Icould live with but I lost a further on next to it this year. I have a private dentist in Scarborough who wants to “refer” me to someone for implants. I suspect for a fee! The person to whom she wishes to refer me chargesC2A3150 for a consultation! I am also told a ball park figure would beC2A33000 a tooth! My basic research indicates this seems ‘a little excessive’. I appreciate, as I do skeletal reports as an archaeologist, that premolars by position and with resorbtion of the bone are probably in a bad and therefore expensive position to implant. My preliminary enquiry is couldthey cost as much as C2A33000 a tooth in a worst case scenario. I wouldbe keen to have implants commencing next year and know they will not be cheap.

What sort of cost is involved in full mouth reconstruction. I realise its impossible to give an accurate quote without seeing my teeth. I was just looking for a rough price range. Im 25 and I didn’t look after my teeth when Iwas younger, I am missing my UR1 and UL2 (for which I currently have a partial plate). My UL1 has also been backfilled and has stained. I have lots of fillings including some root fillings. I have been researching dental implants and they seem like a really good option. Sorry if this information isvague. I would really appreciate correspondence

I had two front side teeth and a number of lower jaw side teeth removed over a year ago but have not had any further treatment. I am getting married in a year and as you can imagine smiling for photo’s isn’t something I currently do. I would be interested in having a consultation to see if implantsand tooth whitening is something that would work for me. Or if there is a better route. Obviously cost would be a factor but I would like to understand what this world be etc to asses if I could complete this.

if you dont mind me asking can you tell me how much you as a denist will actually pay for an implant. what is this in terms of what the patient will ende up paying? i know it comes down to things as well like experience but please let me know. regards.

Trystan Says :

Thanks for your question. The cost for the dental implant components varies depending on the brand of implant used, the type and size of implant. There are many costs that make up the fee that is charged to the patient. There is the cost of the implant components; the laboratory costs for the custom made restoration; the cost of the dentists time; the cost of the dentists assistant and support staff. Regard

I have two dental implants, and one of them has gotten scratch somehow. I have had the implants for about three to four years and I was very pleased with them but now I’m very self concious of this scratch, as the implants are right in the front of my mouth and it is very visible. Are there any solutions to correct this scratch without having to get another tooth attached to the implanted post? And also what do you think may have caused the implant to have been scratched? Does this happen commonly or is it just my bad luck?

I think you are talking about the crown on top of the implant. You may need it polished or possibly a new crown attached to your underlying implant

Hailie Says :

I had 2 crowns for my front teeth when in my teens, After falling & chipping them. I have since had disaster after disaster, the last one being 17 years ago when I had a fractured root in my lt front tooth. I had an implant done – then Swedish Brandeburg ??. Now the crown is noticably shorter than my other front tooth which is a also crown. I saw a dentist who took an x-ray which showed I had bone loss around the implant which she said has causaed the implant to be pulled up, & she said i will eventually looose the implant. I sometimes get a dull slight ache in the region. I am unerstandibly quite anxious. What should I do? Can you help? Thank you.

The costs for dental implants will vary depending on the amount of work involved and the practice where you are being treated. As a ball park figure budget £2,000 per restored implant. A full consultation would be required with a dentist to assess your treatment needs and give you more indication on costings.

please can you advise if it’s possible to slightly reposition teeth when doing implants – specifically I have two front teeth I have hated for years (now aged 49) which seem to be prominent – they exit the gum sloping forward and then angle straight down. is it possible to get implants to replace these but position the implant a couple of millimetres back or at least so that they go straight down ?

August 18th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Jenifer Says :

Usually, it depends on your specific situation but this is something we do a huge amount of. It is not surprising but when teeth get loose/ damaged etc they can end up in the wrong place. If these need to be replaced by implants if possible, it is nice to put these back in the right place.

I have an 18 year old implant replaced my front tooth. The implant has lost some bone and the metal is now showing. Otherwise it is solid and does not move. Is it possible to remove it, have bone grafting done and then a new implant. If yes how can it be removed with minimum damage? Are their techniques other than a trephine because the damage with that instrument could be extensive. There is some kind of electro surgery that below certain temperature can do the job but where can I have it done?

October 3rd, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Julian Says :

It can be done but not with electrosurgery. Its possible to use piezosurgery as this destroys less bone. You’ll need to see an implant specialist for a full assessment and quote for the treatment

My dentist tells me my only option is to have all of my teeth removed and replaced with dentures. November 8th, 2011 at 08:47 PM

Hi The other alternatives are dental implants used to retain dentures which woul allow good fixation or a better option would be a fixed bridge retained by implants.

i have lost 6 of my teeth because of gum disease. My dentist says that he has the disease under control now that he has removed my teeth and treated me, but i am now looking for options for filling in the gaps that are now left. November 8th, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Chaya Says :

If you have 4 teeth missing then you possiblly could have a bridge held by 2 or 3 implants. A detailed examination would be required to give you a definitive treatment plan.

The crown on my implant broke so I need to have it replaced. I went to the dentist (in Germany where I live) and he could not remove the screw. I sat there for 1.5 hours and he could not get it out. So my question is, is it necessary to take that out to make a new crown? I gave him the info for the type of implant that I had done (in Italy). Can he not make the impression without removing the screw? He asked me to ask the Italian implant guy if he by chance had cemented the implant in. I go back in 2 weeks and they will have a smaller instrument to try to remove the screw with. thanks.

Hi If the crown is fractured then it would have to be removed to make a new crown. It would be appropriate to take the abutment out and take a new fixture level impression.

I recently had an implant fitted, but was surprised to find it much smaller in size than the molar it replaced (about 70%). It is a single tooth implant to replace the second lower left molar, which i lost 2 years ago.My dentist said the base of my bones would determine the size of the implant and he could not increase the size. I was not aware of this and the tooth looks very much out of place. Is there anything I can do?

February 6th, 2012 at 08:47 PM

It is often better to reduce the size of the final tooth if the bone support is reduced. Increaing the size of the tooth could be done but you may run a risk of early failure.

It doesn’t sound like a bridge off the smaller tooth would work and an implant will probably cost in excess of £1500, it sounds like the best option though.

I was seen by my dentist and at first she suggested to remove the remaining tooth as the tooth was level with the gum which would not be enough hold a crown, but she also suggested she will know better about it on the next apponintment when she numb the tooth. Well she has checked it and she said it seemed the over grown a bit, so she would try to fill the tooth and make a foundation for a crown. She filled the remaining tooth with filling and gave me another appointment to see how things will go. I do not know if this will work however after the filling I have slight discomfort aroun the tooth area which I did not have it before the treatment. It has been 4 days since the treatment. I wonder feeling some discomfort around the area is normal? I appreaciate your assictance. Best regards,

Implants would be better than dentures unless you are very old. You really need to get a consultation with a prosthodontist to find out your options
