Can A Dental Hygienist Refuse To Treat Patients With HIV?

Q.
Hi there, I was wondering if you could please help me with something? Can a DENTAL HYGIENIST refuse to treat a patient with HIV in uk?
I know a dentist cannot refuse treatment but how does it work with a Hygienist?

I have seen a dentist who has referred me to a hygienist (it was after seeing dentist) I was then asked to fill in medical form whilst seeing the dentist I wasn’t asked about any medical issues. I was only asked about any allergies. Should i say something to my hygienist? I just don’t know how it works and I would like to be 100% certain everything is okay. I feel like because nothing like that was ask that it’s fine? Surely they’ll have my condition on record after being referred from the dentist maybe? If you can provide me with some advise that would be great! Thank you in advance, regards.

Hello, thank you for your question. I think you should ask the General Dental Council for advice on this matter. I hope this helps. Kind regards.
