As A Teacher I Would Need Something Other Than Braces Treatment. Would You Recommend Tooth Trimming?

Q.
Hi there Dr Gambroudes,
I have front teeth which are, in my opinion, too big for my mouth. I feel that when I smile they stand out too much.
I’ve been to several dentists. Some recommended not doing anything at all while others recommended braces. I feel that having braces at my age (30) is out of the question. I’m a teacher by profession so having braces might also present obstructions in the way I speak in class. I had braces before but it seems that the adjustments weren’t thorough.
I’ve been reading up on dental procedure where teeth are trimmed to a smaller size. Do you think that would help with my problem?
Thanks.
A.
Hello and thank you for contacting me. It is something you could consider if you feel it affects your confidence. You should do try to find an experienced cosmetic dentist who can provide you before and after cases of similar dental case to yours. Braces are less invasive to the tooth’s structure, however. You can take Invisalign out at certain points in the day as long as they are in for a minimum of 21 hours a day. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Dr Marcus Gambroudes.
