it sounds like you need to go back and ask your dentist to take a look, you might need a root treatment??

What procedure is fine scale? If the dentist says your coming back for fine scale. Will it hurt?

It is a cleaning and it is not painful, may be a bit sensitive depending on the health of your gums

Hi – I had a crown fitted three weeks ago. When the initial x-rays were taken, the dentist wasn’t sure if I would require a root canal. She determined, upon removal of the old filling, that a root canal wouldn’t be required. I went through the entire crown procedure – temporary, then permanent. Now, I am having increased nagging pain in the tooth. I am going back to the dentist tomorrow, but I am curious if a root canal should’ve been done. And if so, will I have to pay for a new crown if it was her error – it was a lot of money, as I’m sure you know.

I have recently had a crown fitted on a lower molar but it doesn’t fit under the gum and there is a ridge with a little of the original tooth exposed – is this normal? I had this fitted two weeks ago, initially it was fine but this week there has been some sensitivity. Just wondering whether it’s because some of the original tooth is exposed or whether the nerve may be dying! Can’t really say anymore than already mentioned.

It is not a concern that the crown does not extend rigt down to the gum, but it should fit well. If your symptoms don’t settle within 2 weeks, do back to your dentist for an assessment. Regards,
