A Molar Tooth I Had Filled Has Become Very Painful, What Should I Do?

Q.
Hi Doctor Hughes. A molar tooth that has a filling redone about 8 months ago has become extremely painful. There is a dull ache on this tooth and it also looks as if there is a small gap between tooth and gum. I suffer from constant twinges when eating hot and cold food too. What is likely to be the problem here? There is a tooth next to it that was removed last year and the one on the other side is bent inwards and that does have a small hole in it. I know that’s probably another problem in its self but what do you think? I would like a general idea before I decide to visit my dentist, will this cost a lot to fix up do you think? Thank you for your help.

Hello, thank you for your questions. I would advise that you go to your dentist or come and see me in London as soon as possible. If you are having pain then there may be several problems that require urgent attention. It could be a whole host of things but without examining you in person then accurate diagnosis is impossible

Best wishes

Mark
