A few questions about the invisible mouth guard…

Q. Hey there, well I finally got my fixed braces off after two years! I’ve been given “PFRs”, the invisible mouth guard like ones.. I have a few questions really. *Cleaning What do you suggest I clean them with? My dentist said not to use toothpaste as they will scratch/discolour. He said ‘just use water and a toothbrush’, but this seems really unhygeinic to me, and thus makes me self conscious of odour. Could i use gel toothpaste? Or denture tablets? Just anything apart from water would ease my concerns. How many times should I clean them a day (If i can use toothpaste gel), how does just when I brush my teeth (Morning and night). When i take my retainers out before meals I usually just rinse thoroughly under the cold water. *Drinks Can I drink anything at all with them in? I phoned up to enquire about this, and they said it’s advised not to drink anything with them in, and take them out when I have a drink, but this seems quite unpractical, as each time I take them out i’ve been told to brush my teeth.. What do you suggest I do? – Also, if your answer is that Yes, I can drink, what about fizzy drinks? I know about the sugar touching the teeth and getting cavities, would diet fizzy drinks help? Thanks for any help!,
A. Use a small amount of tooth paste or denture cream which is less abrasive Try to clean them after meals and morning and night Avoid fizzy drinks but if you must try diet ones Andrew
