York dentist Dr Andrea Ubhi has submitted an application to convert a shop into a new cosmetic dental practice in Stonegate.

Dr Ubhi plans to turn the Twenty Two Interiors shop in Goodramgate into a brand new cosmetic dental surgery. Dr Ubhi already has a surgery in Stonegate and has sent the application into the City of York Council.

The new plans include details relating to changes to the interior of the building and the addition of new windows, a partition and new ceilings. The new premises would house four surgeries, two waiting rooms, a staff room and offices.

The application states that the changes would be made with sympathy to the original listed building and the structure would remain intact. The size of the building would remain the same, but the use of the building would alter.

A decision is due to be made by planning officers by November 21st.

The owner of the interior shop, Ruth Corker, said that planning was in the early stages and the opportunity has arisen as a result of relocation plans. Ms Corker added that she will keep customers informed of any updates with the relocation of the shop.

Dr Ubhi has not yet confirmed whether the existing Stonegate surgery will close if the plans for the new practice are given the green light.
