A dental clinic in York is to undergo a £600,000 expansion to cater for a huge increase in demand for cosmetic dental treatment.

Andrea Ubhi York is relocating to Goodramgate from Stonegate as part of an expansion plan to enable dentists to treat more patients and provide a wider range of services. There has been a 40% increase in demand for services over the last 12 months.

Owner, Andrea Ubhi, said that she is delighted that the plans to move to new premises in Goodramgate have been approved. The practice will move to a larger space, which is currently occupied by an interior store.

The opening of the new clinic will create seven additional jobs, bringing the total number of staff members up to 20. The clinic was named Dentist of the Year North last year.

Dr Ubhi opened the clinic in 2002 after she spotted a gap in the market in a private clinic offering affordable cosmetic treatment in York. At the time she was running Clock House Dental, which she sold at the beginning of 2014. The sale allowed her to invest more in Andrea Ubhi Dental and the search for new premises began.

The new clinic, which features a shop window to make it more appealing to passers-by, will house four surgeries and a spacious reception area. There will also be disabled access and two waiting rooms.

The move will take place next summer.
