A new research study has confirmed that women are better than men when it comes to looking after their teeth and gums.

The study, which has been published in the Journal of Periodontology, shows that women are almost twice as likely as men to attend regular check-ups; the study also shows that women are more likely to attend follow-up appointments. Women are also more likely to floss on a daily basis.

The study also suggested that women have a better understanding of oral health and oral hygiene and a positive perspective of dental visits. Research suggests that women are more conscious of the appearance of their smile; 74 percent of women said that they would be embarrassed by having a missing tooth, in comparison to 57 percent of men.

The study involved more than 800 participants, aged between 18 and 19.
