Wells Dental Technician All Smiles After Scooping Prestigious Award

A dental technician from Wells is all smiles after scooping a prestigious award. Les Wheatley has officially been named Member of the Year by the British Association of Clinical Dental Technology.

Speaking of the honour, Les said he was completely shocked and joked that somebody could have knocked him down with a feather when he found out. Les has trained for three years and he works in a different way to most other technicians. He meets patients and designs new restorations and prostheses such as dentures based on the consultation. Around 85 percent of technicians work solely from impressions and images and never actually meet any patients.

The award, which is one of the most prestigious available to dental technicians working in the UK, aims to recognise hard work and commitment to ethical dental work.

In his spare time, Les enjoys gardening and carpentry and has already put his manual skills to use by creating a dining room table.

Les works at Rock House Dental Practice and the team was thrilled with his achievement.
