Washington Dental office suffers theft

Sample News Big

A dental office in Tacoma, Washington, was broken into yesterday and a computer server with thousands of patient’s information was taken. The burglars broke through a window and took the server along with other computer equipment and police have now called in experts to reduce identity theft and fraud.

Reports were filed with the local Sheriff’s Office, along with ID Experts; a company that specialises in solving data breaches, and the affected patients were all notified via USPS mail straight away. The theft may have causes mild panic, as the server contained sensitive information such as address, telephone numbers, Social Security Numbers, account numbers and medical histories. However, there have not been any reported cases that indicate any misuse of the information.

The owner of the dental office, Dr. Ward Morris, has offered a years long credit monitoring service to all the affected patients; ensuring that they receive full insurance refunds and fraud victim restoration services in the event of future misuse of their information.
