Veneers can change 'shape, alignment and colour of teeth'

Veneers can change 'shape, alignment and colour of teeth'People seeking whiter, straighter teeth should speak to their cosmetic dentist about veneers, it has been claimed.

Writing for Indian newspaper the Hindu, Dr Sandesh Mayekar explained that although porcelain laminates can correct the shape and alignment of teeth, the shade of teeth can not be amended.

However, veneers can achieve the same effect at the same time as whitening the teeth, he said.

In addition, porcelain laminate veneer treatment can be used as an alternative for orthodontic work, Dr Mayekar added.

"Today, beautiful teeth are important to feel and look good and give ourselves a sense of well-being," he said. "People desire aesthetically pleasing and natural looking dental restorations that are biocompatible and long lasting."

The first step a cosmetic dentist should take is a smile analysis, he claimed, as this provides them with all the information about a person's teeth.

According to the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the popularity of veneers has increased due to their usage in television makeover programmes.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18560226-ADNFCR
