A pair of dental nurses from Uttoxeter is gearing up to take on an 84-mile trek in memory of lost loved ones.

Kelly Bradley and Stephanie Black are training hard for their West-to-East hike, which will begin on March 29th. The dynamic duo is planning to complete two 20-mile training walks in advance of the charity hike and the pair has stepped up their fundraising efforts in a bid to try and raise as much money as possible.

Both Kelly and Stephanie have lost relatives in recent years, and their experiences have inspired them to take on the challenge and raise money for three charities that are close to their hearts. Kelly lost her brother, Dan, to suicide when he was just 33 years old and a year later, Stephanie lost her mum to a brain haemorrhage.

The brave nurses will battle the elements to raise money for PAPYRUS and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide and the Brain Research Trust. The duo has also organised a Valentine’s themed cake sale at Uttoxeter Dental Practice and a charity night, which features an Elvis Presley tribute act. The event will take place on the 16th March at Manor Golf Club, Kingstone and tickets are priced at £7.50.

The pair is planning to set off from Wallsend on 29th March, which would have been Dan’s 40th birthday. The friends have supported each other through their losses and now, they’re looking forward to helping each other out as they take on this gruelling challenge.
