Unprofessional treatment can lead to"pain and problems"

Unprofessional treatment can lead toGetting a qualified professional to perform cosmetic dentistry treatment is essential, it has been claimed.

Dr Uchenna Okoye, British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) board member, told the Halifax Evening Courier that people who seek out cheaper options may end up suffering as a result.

She said: "Some patients come to me for help because they are experiencing pain and problems after perhaps having treatments done by unqualified people in beauty salons, going abroad to get so-called bargain treatment or using a cheap DIY whitening kit."

Dr Okoye, who is the dentist on the new series of Channel 4's 10 Years Younger programme, added that she has had her own teeth whitened because she believes a beautiful smile is vital to a good appearance.

People focus on an individuals eyes and smile when they meet them for the first time, she added.

The BACD has attributed the increasing demand for veneers to their usage in television makeover shows such as 10 Years Younger.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18580599-ADNFCR
