Two women have been jailed after being found guilty of attacking a dental nurse from Leyland.

Zara Allen, a 19 year old mother of one, was attacked by two women at a nightclub in Leyland in July last year. The dental nurse was dancing with friends when the two women, Lucie Clarke and Jasmine McFadyen-King, glassed her in an unprovoked attack.

Clarke and McFadyen-king, both 22, pleaded guilty to the charge of wounding Miss Allen, who has a one year old son, at Preston Crown Court.

Miss Allen was with her friends at Barristers on July 14th when she was attacked by the duo; she had already told doormen about the women earlier in the night after they gave her intimidating looks and they had been warned about their behaviour. The pair attacked her using a glass, leaving her with facial injuries and cuts on her neck, back and arms; Miss Allen was taken to hospital and had 12 stitches, but doctors told her that she would have permanent scars on her arms, back and neck.

Judge Simon Newell, presiding at Burnley Crown Court, sentenced Miss Clarke to 20 months in a young offender’s institution, which will be suspended for 6 months and Miss McFadyen-King to 2 and a half years in prison.

Det Sgt Richard Horton, from Leyland CID, said that the attack was “unpleasant and unprovoked” and added that the victim has been left with permanent scarring. He added that the sentence shows that violence will not be tolerated in Leyland.
