Two new dental practices have opened in Leicester, offering patients access to treatment 365 days a year. The new surgeries will operate 12 hours a day, every day of the year.

The two new clinics, which are located in Westcotes and Clarendon Park, are run by JDRM Dental Care Limited and they are the first of five new year-round practices scheduled to open in the county. The other clinics will open in Melton, Oakham and Loughborough. The move is part of a £6.3 million annual investment in the county’s NHS dental services.

Additional funding in the county has also facilitated extended opening hours at Whitehouse Dental Surgery in Evington. The surgery will now open on Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, with additional routine and urgent appointments available.

Head of primary care for NHS England in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Di Pegg, said that the trust is “delighted” to confirm the opening of two new centres, with three additional clinics set to open in the coming weeks. The extended hours service will provide better access to NHS dental and more flexible options for patients who work full-time, as well as those who require emergency treatment.
