Tory crackdown on botched Botox

Cosmetic clinic staff who are unqualified to perform Botox and other similar procedures could be jailed if their patients become scarred under new Conservative party proposals.

The Daily Mail reports that as part of a cosmetic surgery industry regulation push, David Cameron has approved plans to "criminalise" ill-performed facial rejuvenation techniques.

As part of a crackdown on the UK’s "backstreet Botox" industry, botched treatments will be on a similar legal footing as assault if the regulation is enforced, the source continues.

In addition, the political party intends to introduce a ban on Botox remote prescriptions, claiming a doctor must see a patient before recommending the treatment.

David Bloom, president elect of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, has previously told the newspaper that despite a number of publicised concerns, dentists are well-equipped to carry out Botox treatments.

He explained that the dental professionals are used to using needles, injections and anaesthetics and working with delicate areas of the face.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18502837-ADNFCR
