Thousands of health workers and dental professionals are providing their time to take part in a free health event in San Antonio next week.

More than 1,500 volunteers will be devoting their days to helping others fro the 8th until the 10th April. Over the course of the event, more than $10 million worth of treatment will be provided free of charge.

The event will take place at the Alamodome and is geared towards those that don’t have insurance or policies to cover a wide range of procedures and services.

There will be a host of medical and dental services available on the day, including immunisations, women’s health services, eye care services, dental services (such as root canal treatment, fillings, extractions and cleaning services), STI testing, blood pressure testing, cardiology, paediatric care, podiatry, X-rays and physiotherapy.

Appointments will be handed out on a first come, first served basis and the team will endeavour to see as many patients as possible. Appointments are open to all and no ID is required.

Surgical patients are advised to ring ahead to book an appointment, as patients require pre-surgery consultation.

The event has been organised by a group of organisations including Your Best Way to Health, which is part of the Adventist-Laymen’s Services and Industries, the Adventist Health System and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
