The Dental “Dating Game”

The Board of Registration in Dentistry in Pennsylvania is recommending parameters on single dentist dating of patients. What they are proposing is that single dentists have to wait a period of three months after a patient completes his or her dental work before the patient and the dentist can date.
Shortly, dentists, dental hygienists, and other dental professionals, will be disciplined for any types of gesturing, speech, facial or body expressions, or any of these in combination. However, if the dental professional lives with the patient, no disciplinary action will be taken.

There are currently no specific complaints or incidents, but the Board of Registration feels that they need to protect the consumers. There are regulations already in place to protect patients against verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. This new regulation is limiting the dating of free citizens and anyone in the dental profession. Can they do this? The state is basically dictating who you can date as a consenting adult. More will be revealed!
