Teeth whitening for charity

Teeth whitening for charityThe British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) is encouraging cosmetic dental clinics to donate their fees from teeth whitening to charity.

As of May 19th, hundreds of cosmetic dentists will carry out teeth whitening treatments to support Smiling for the World charity.

The funds will then be given to Facing the World which aims to help children born with severe facial disfigurements in foreign countries.

James Goolnik, dentist and vice-president of BACD, commented: "The BACD whitening programme is a collaborative effort between practitioners, manufacturers and patients to make a difference in the lives of children from developing countries who suffer from facial deformities."

Mr Goolnik added that cosmetic dentists aim to make people feel good about the way they look and this scheme means they will be able to do so on a "much grander scale".

This Sunday (May 18th) marks the start of National Smile Month, which this year is focusing on good oral health and the dangers that neglecting dental hygiene can lead to including low birth weight babies, diabetes, heart disease and strokes.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18595393-ADNFCR
