Technology 'boosts' cosmetic dental industry
The most innovative development in the world of cosmetic dentistry is the use of lasers, reports Express Healthcare magazine.According to Dr Sanjay Karla, professor and head department of prosthetics BRS Dental College, Gurgaon, lasers can produce significant and fast results.
"Laser whitening is one of the most lucrative laser dentistry procedures and it can deliver excellent results while minimising the discomfort, inconvenience, excess time and potential chemical absorption risk associated with other whitening procedures," he said.
Dr Karla explained that the laser process involves an exact beam of light energy which reduces the risk of infection and bleeding.
Procedures can be performed with minimal discomfort and in a short period of time, he added.
He also claimed that porcelain laminate veneers have boosted the popularity of cosmetic dentistry as they are highly resistant to stains, look extremely natural and can be applied easily.
A study by Mintel found that more money is spent on cosmetic dentistry in London than any other area of the UK, reports Elixir News.
