Smiles all round

Smiles all roundWith National Smile Month starting this Sunday, the Birmingham Mail has advised people to begin looking after their pearly whites.

The newspaper cited previous research which found that a fifth of Brits are so embarrassed about the state of their teeth that they try and hide them in photographs.

However, it added that people who live in the midlands are the most likely to do this, which could spur them to invest in some cosmetic dentistry.

Research by the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) found that Kylie Minogue, Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Simon Cowell top the list of favourite celebrity smiles.

Unfortunately a third of Brits are less than happy with their teeth, it added.

"Women believe a good smile indicates a warm personality while men consider that it will lead to success in life," BACD president David Bloom claimed.

The BACD has also found that women are more than twice as likely to have cosmetic dentistry treatment as their male counterparts.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18591205-ADNFCR
