Smile makeover ‘good investment’

A complete smile makeover could be the most cost-effective approach to cosmetic dentistry, it has been reported.

Dr Arthur Freedman, a Connecticut-based dentist, explained that rather than having separate procedures done over a long period of time, a single transformation is often a safer and more cost-effective investment.

Patients who continue to choose the one-treatment-at-a-time method often suffer more pain in the long run and are also more likely to experience weaker teeth, he said.

By delaying dental work, there can be physical, financial and professional downsides, he added.

"Smile makeovers – with their dramatic, life-changing results – not only create beautiful, natural looking smiles, they reverse serious health conditions such as periodontal disease, loss of teeth and oral pain," claimed Dr Freedman.

Published in the Journal of Periodontology, a study by the University of Michigan found that people who suffer from gum disease are less likely to have a wide smile and cover their mouth with their hand more often.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18534363-ADNFCR
