Skipping Dental Check-Ups Contribute to Bigger Bills

Sample News Big

Dentists in St Petersburg, Brandon and New Tampa have reported an increase in patient numbers in recent months, but the cost of missing appointments is adding up and patients who have skipped check-ups over the last two or more years are now facing larger dental bills.

Dentists across America suffered during the recession because many patients cancelled and postponed appointments because they were struggling financially. Now, dental practices are welcoming patients back but they are facing bigger bills because their oral health has suffered during their absence from the surgery.

Dentists across the country warned against missing appointments, as preventative treatment is much cheaper than treatment for complex conditions, however, many patients stayed away because they couldn’t afford routine treatment.

Dr Steven Bloom has seen an increase in the number of patients at his St Petersburg practice and said that many patients have developed oral health problems and therefore he is consequently carrying out more complex procedures, which tend to cost a lot more than routine treatment.

Dr Craig Oldham and Dr Rodney Holcombe have experienced the same situation and say that the increase in patient numbers is not necessarily an indicator of the economy improving, instead, they say it may boil down to the fact that patients cannot avoid treatment any longer because they are experiencing symptoms, including pain and swelling.
