Robots to replace dentists?
A dentist from New Jersey has suggested that robots could be made to do oral surgery but will never have the same skills as a human being.
Dr Nicolas Elian, 47 from Hackensack, has said that a robot may be able to perform oral surgery one day but will never have the same high standard of clinical judgement as the real thing.
He made the point that machines would never have the same commitment to a patient’s personal feelings and said that years of expertise would make the difference too.
The chief exec and president of high-tech dental clinic Vizstara, Dr Elian also shares his experiences with his academy students.
The $8 million academy-cum-clinic is situated on Englewood Cliffs in New Jersey.
