A dentist from Dorset is looking forward to a busy summer of shows after using her artistic skills to help patients feel more relaxed.

Hilary Warren, the previous owner of Poundbury Dental Practice, found that hanging her paintings around the clinic helped anxious patients to feel more relaxed. After retiring to spend more time creating canvases, the artistic dentist is now hoping to raise her profile and make some sales. As well as attending art shows and workshops this summer, Hilary and her husband Tim are also hosting the Chesil Rocks Festival at their Langton Herring home on June 23rd. This will be the eighth time the festival has taken place, and all the proceeds will be donated to the Dorset Samaritans. Hilary’s work will also be exhibited as part of the Coastal Nautical Nature exhibition, which will run between the 26th May and the 10th June.

Hilary studied art in Harrogate before pursuing a career in dentistry and she used her Poundbury clinic to combine her two loves. The practice was decked out in watercolours, which proved much more popular than posters. Patients enjoyed looking at the paintings, and they also found them very relaxing.

Hilary retired in 2016 and has since expanded her artistic skills to include new subjects of interest, different media and new technology.
