The Dental Nursing Apprenticeship at New College Durham has been re-launched.

The Durham college is the first in Britain to gain approval from CACHE, the only specialist awarding organisation for adult and children health care centres in the UK.

The Level 3 advanced apprenticeship combines classroom study with real workplace learning and is also approved by the GDC (General Dental Council).

Curriculum Manager Claire Kelly said New College Durham is delighted to re-launch their new dental nurse programme and be the first provider to be approved by CACHE. She said that although they’re still only in their first year of running the course, this shows they have the ability and expertise for further growth.

Claire also said that dental nursing has become an increasingly popular career choice. The new programme is a superb opportunity for people looking to pursue a career in dental nursing.

She added that the college is looking for additional dental practices to work alongside them to meet the demand for such a popular apprenticeship. There is projected increase of 17.4 percent in dental nursing roles throughout the North East over the next seven years, meaning that the market is growing and is in need of trained personnel.
